Photos/Results: Bermuda Sand Sculpture Contest
[Updated with video & results] The Bermuda Department of Tourism hosted the 16th Annual Bermuda Sand Sculpture Competition at Horseshoe Bay Beach yesterday [Sept.3]. Participants were given 12-by-12 foot building area to showcase their creativity. The grand prize was $1,000, the second place winner received $500, and $250 was awarded to third place
There were various sand sculptures featuring a wide variety of concepts including sharks, cars, a frog, a giant foot, with a an impressive giant octopus collecting one of the prizes.

and the winner was?
We would also like to know who the winners were please?!
As would we actually, however we have to wait on the Dept of Tourism as the prize presentation ran so late we had to leave [or cancel covering another event].
We asked the BDOT that day to email us the winners, and also asked them yesterday. If they do send the winners we will update, however we chose to at least add the photos rather then not cover the event at all.
Can you double check the 3rd place for Family Category? We actually won that award, not the names posted above. Thanks! Glenn
Thanks, we did double check, and the all names are printed exactly as per the BDOT email. As we said above, due to the unscheduled late timing we had to leave so were not there for the presentation ourselves, so we asked the Dept of Tourism for their list of winners, and that’s what they gave us…..
I bet the octopus won although the bottle is good and so was the dragon..if I had to choose…it would be the dragon…The man with the hair and bathing trunks was good to. I think someone should compile a book on the sandcastle competitions over the years since it first started cause there is so much talent out there.
