Police Name 79-Yr-Old Drowning Victim

The Bermuda Police Service named the American visitor who passed away on September 18th. The visitor, who had traveled to Bermuda on a cruise ship, was on a snorkeling tour in waters approximately one mile off the west end when he was discovered in an unresponsive state.

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service is continuing the investigation into the death of 79 year old Joe Alston of Statesboro Georgia, U.S.A.”

“The general findings of an autopsy conducted this week is that death appears to have been caused by drowning, but that will be for the Coroner to decide ultimately. Accordingly, a file is now being prepared for review by the Coroner’s office.”

“The Bermuda Police Service extends condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Alston.”
