Bermuda Powerboat Association Statement

The Bermuda Powerboat Association have released a statement following the tragic incident this weekend.

The statement said, “With extreme heavy hearts, the Bermuda Powerboat Association can confirm there was a serious marine accident which brought the highly anticipated Hamilton Harbour Powerboat Race to a halt on Sunday, June 28th.

“Tragically in the incident, we lost one of our drivers and his copilot was injured, and later released from hospital. While this is an active investigation, no further details can be released.

“Our prayers go out to not only families and friends, but our BPBA members as well and wish the copilot a speedy recovery. Please be advised our July 5th race has been postponed until further notice.”

A spokesperson also added, “We would like to thank all who assisted in anyway. Special thanks to St Johns Ambulance, the BFRS Services, Doctors and BPS.”
