Minister Tours Mammography Unit

October 22, 2011

On Thursday [Oct.20] Minister of Health Zane DeSilva toured of the Mammography Unit at King Edward Vll Memorial Hospital in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Pictured below: Radiographer for Diagnostic Imaging at KEMH Terricca Glasford (left) explains to Minister De Silva how the Mammography Unit’s GE Healthcare Senographe Digital Mammography System operates, as Chief Operating Officer for Bermuda Hospitals Board Scott Pearman looks on (center). The equipment is fairly new to the Department, having only been installed in 2010. Digital imaging is faster for patients, who no longer have to wait while films are developed and checked to see if extra images are required.

Accreditation by the ACR provides independent validation that the hospital’s mammography team is providing women in Bermuda with the highest quality of care.
