Two Motorcyclists Accosted
The Police said that on Friday [Oct.21] there were two incidents in which motorcyclists were accosted by men on a motorcycle; one in Southampton in which one of the suspects managed to take the keys from the victim’s motorcycle, and one in Smith’s in which the victim sustained minor injuries and had his wallet, iPhone and personal items stolen.
A police spokesperson said, “Around 11:50pm on Friday, police responded to a reported incident on Lighthouse Road in Southampton. It appears that the victim, a 52 year old man, was riding a motorcycle along Lighthouse Road when he was accosted by two unknown men on another motorcycle.”
“One of the suspects managed to take the keys from the victim’s motorcycle before both suspects made good their escape. The victim was not injured. The suspects are described as two dark skinned men wearing dark coloured clothing and black helmets on a red and white or grey coloured scooter type motorcycle.”
“Inquiries into this incident are underway. Any witnesses or anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.”

It appears that the victim, a 31 year old Southampton man, was riding a motorcycle along South Road when he was accosted by two unknown men on another motorcycle.”
“The Southampton man sustained minor injuries as a result. The suspects managed to take a black wallet containing a black I-Phone and personal items before making good their escape along South Road. The suspects are described as two dark skinned men wearing dark coloured clothing on a dark coloured motorcycle.”
“Inquiries into this incident are underway. Any witnesses or anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.
“Police are not ruling out the possibility that the two incidents involving motorcyclists being accosted may be linked.”
I take it that the both bike’s registration numbers were noted.
The police need to ride these same bikes and look nerdy looking are vulnerable and create a sting operation to catch these fools…
I agree.
looking like a nerd doesn’t automatically make you a target. Being alone on a bike at night makes you a target, this could happen to anyone no matter what they look like.
This is ridiculous. This sh-t is getting old and making me hate Bermuda more and more…and I’m Bermudian.
And when they do actually catch them, they are let out on bail. And even if they are convicted, the parole board lets them out after one third of the sentence has been served.
What a mess.
Welcome to the REAL WORLD. These things happen every day all over the world. Sometimes worst things then this. Not justifying anything. People be on guard at all times no matter where you travel. Bermuda is becoming like every other country in the world with the bad and the good. Criminals do their jobs very well so the rest of us must pay attention so that we do not become victims.
I’ve always thought that the law were any Bermudian caught with a bladed weapon gets jail time is stupid. I, as a Bermudian who has never had any criminal convictions shouldn’t be held to the same standard as someone with a criminal conviction. I say this because I would feel much more comfortable riding at night knowing I had something to protect myself should two losers like this attack me late at night. We know realistically that by the time the police get involved, the attackers are long gone, and have probably robbed more innocent people in the process…
