Videos: BLTA Jr Open Tennis Champs
The Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association’s Junior Open Tennis Championships got underway on Saturday [Oct.22] at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium, with a full slate of games.
Boys’ 16 Singles number two seed Shiloh Todd went down in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 to Nick Lines in their Quarter-Final match, while Boys’ 10 Singles second seed Tariq Simons defeated Amir Thomas in straight sets 4-1, 4-0.
In Girls’ 10 Singles action Lauren Way defeated Brianna Simmons 4-1, 4-0, while MacLean Smith defeated Yndia Raynor in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 in their Girls’ 14 Singles match up.
On day two of the championships the Boy’s 10 match between Mahir Wagh and Charlie Keyes, saw Wagh come away with a three set victory. Wagh won the first set 7-5, before Keyes won the second set 6-0, Wagh won the third and final set tie-breaker 9-7.
In Girls 16 action Eva Frazzoni defeated Esaiah Lister in straight sets 6-1 6-0, while Ciara Svensen defeated Yndia Raynor in straight sets 6-0 6-0.
Luke Bell and Nicholas Cooper defeated Scott Redmond and Jay Wagh in three sets 7-6, 5-7, 7-3 in their Boys 14 Doubles match, while Nick Lines and William Way defeated Ben Lines and Mahir Wagh 7-6, 6-0.
Day three saw nine matches played at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium. In Boy’s 10 Singles Semi-Final action Tariq Simons defeated Scott Redmond in straight sets 4-1, 4-2, while Ben Lines defeated Mahir Wagh in a three set Boy’s 12 Singles Semi-Final thriller, Lines won the first set 6-2, bit Wagh won the second set 6-4, before Lines won the third and final set 6-4.
Lauren Way defeated Alexie Burrows in their Girls 10 Singles match in straight sets 4-0, 4-1.
