2010 Health Financing Summit Report

November 20, 2011

As Bermuda prepares for the 2011 Health Financing Summit, take a look back at the 2010 – which summarizes last year’s discussions at the Summit, which was held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.

The objectives of the Health Financing Summit 2010 were three-fold, to: engage industry stakeholders in discussion about rising healthcare costs and possible solutions; inform the public of the drivers of healthcare increases and how they can help change this; and celebrate the 40th anniversary of social health insurance in Bermuda.

This year’s Health Financing Summit will take place at Rosewood Tucker’s Point on starting tomorrow [Nov.21]

Two health financing conferences — the Health Financing Summit [HFS] and the 6th Caribbean Conference on Health Financing Initiatives [CCHFI] — will take place.

Both are hosted jointly by the Ministry of Health and the Bermuda Health Council and aim to deal with health systems and health financing but are two separate conferences.

The HFS will take place on Monday November 21 and is for local stakeholders with a focus on the National Health Plan; while the CCHFI will take place on November 22, 23 and 24 and is a Caribbean-inclusive conference — its main audiences being health and social security agencies from across the Caribbean regarding national health financing programmes.

Yeap. In fact, did you know that Currently, many insurance companies do not allow adult children to remain on their parents’ plan once they reach 19. Companies cannot do that any more. Search onilne for “Penny Health” and you can insure your kids if you are in the same boat.
