45 Minute Outage For 7,900 Customers

A BELCO Power Station engine tripped at around 1am this morning [Nov.21], causing 7900 customers to lose power for approximately 45 minutes.

A BELCO spokesperson said, “At 1:02 AM on Monday, 21 November 2011, BELCO’s system initiated a load shed when one East Power Station engine tripped, followed by two more engines.

“Approximately 7900 customers on 14 circuits in West and Central parishes were affected. Power was restored by system operators, who gradually brought all customers back online between 1:40-1:55 AM.”

“BELCO’s system is operating normally. The cause remains under investigation.”
