PALS Donation: Jack Daniels Golf Tour

November 17, 2011

The Jack Daniels Tour has just finished its 2011 Season with Dwayne Pearman regaining his dominance over local golf by winning the Gosling’s Order Of Merit.

However, the real winner this year was P.A.L.S., as the Bermuda Professional Golf Association through the Jack Daniels Tour donated a check for $1200. A Portion of entry fees were set aside and collected throughout the year in an effort to give back to those in need.

“We are lucky enough to have some great sponsors of our Tour” said Tour Director Andrew Bissell.

“Jack Daniels, through Gosling’s, were kind enough to be our Title Sponsor over the last 2 years, so we cannot thank them enough for helping to create what we have. In return we wanted to give back to someone in need and P.A.L.S does a great job of this.”

The cost and purses were also funded by sponsors like Flanagan’s Restaurant which sponsor 10 different sporting teams on the island, Sea Horses Bookmakers Bermuda, Fast Forward Freight and of course Goslings who have sponsored countless events throughout the island.

The Jack Daniels Tour was created to give local golf professionals a place to improve their games under tournament conditions.

“The last 10 years Professionals have only had the Gosling’s Invitational, Bermuda Open and a couple of BPGA events to play in” said Mr Bissell. ”

“We needed constant play throughout the year in order to improve local results in these major tournaments. I made a prediction at the beginning of the year that the major tournaments would be won by local professionals.

“Unfortunately we had some great showings especially by the young Daniel Augustus but have yet a win. However, with the Gosling’s Invitational in two weeks I’m expecting the trophy to remain in Bermuda.

“This hasn’t happened in many years as far as I can remember. I think Dwayne Pearman was the last to raise the trophy.”
