November 5, 2011

Another great day in Bermuda as the Pompano Couple’s Fall Classic resumed their tournament play at Port Royal after a relaxing day off yesterday [Nov 4.]

TEAM NET DIVISION – “Dark n Stormy Flight”
Barbara and John Wellard, [North Bay, Ontario] continue to lead in both divisions with extremely good play through three rounds. Although they are defending their gross title, they are also leading the net division by seven shots. The battle for net title will be hotly contested in a much tighter race with at least six to seven couples contending.

Robert Leavens and Michele Cristal [Toronto, Canada] have a slim one shot lead going into the final round tomorrow at Belmont sitting at 5 under, 207 overall for the tournament.

Wendy and Dale Sander [Pawleys Island, South Carolina] and defending net champions Janet and Bob Plunkett [Sutton, Massachussetts] are one shot back on 4 under 208 overall after three rounds.

Five other couples are in contention and can easily make a move in the final round.

TEAM NET DIVISION – “Rum Swizzle Flight”
Patricia and Arunas Vasys [Aurora, Illinois] hang onto the lead after posting a one under 70 today to give them a three day total of 9 under par 203. Only four shots back on 5 under 207 are the couple from Victor, New York, Martha and John Dreste who are playing great golf this week. On 2 under, 210 overall and within a realistic chance is the couple from North Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Kathy and Jim Shannon.

TEAM GROSS DIVISION
Defending Gross Champions Barbara and John Wellard [North Bay, Ontario]) look set to retain their title in the gross division with consistent play. They added a respectable 4 over 75 to take their three day total to 218, 6 over par and a comfortable 9 shot lead going into the final round at Belmont.

Prizes will be awarded in the gross and net division.
