December 30, 2011

Bermuda Track and Field Association President Donna Watson announced that sprinter Tre Houston has been awarded $15,000 from the Bermuda Olympic Association Olympic preparation funding to assist with his goal of reaching the 2012 London Olympic Standards.

“We are very excited as Houston had a great Pan Am Games with his times just seconds away from the standard,” said Ms Watson.

“Speaking with Houston’s coach Tony Lester he feels quite positive that Houston will be able to reach the Olympic qualifying standard especially in the 200m.”

Coach Lester said, “Houston is training better than ever and if you take the time to view him training when he comes home for Christmas, I think that you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much he is progressing. I believe that him running two personal bests at The Pan Am Games more so the 200m PB has given him a whole new lease of life and now a firm self-belief that nothing is impossible.”

Ms Watson concluded, “We wish Houston all of the best in his upcoming season and we are looking forward to some great results from.”
