Christmas Boat Parade To Set Sail
Decorated with dazzling arrays of holiday lights and equipped with sound systems playing seasonal favourites, Bermuda’s Christmas Boat Parade will set Hamilton Harbour ablaze this weekend.
Vessels ranging from multi-million dollar yachts to Boston whalers will wind their way across the water in what is expected to be of the island’s largest single spectator events of the year.
“This year’s parade will be held on Saturday [Dec. 10] with rain date on Sunday [Dec. 11],” said. a spokesman for the organisers. “The parade will begin promptly at 6:30 pm from the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel, travelling clockwise around White’s Island.”
Christmas Boat Parade organisers say the best places to watch the spectacle are anywhere along the City of Hamilton and Pitts Bay Road waterfronts and atop either Cavendish Heights or Bostock Hill, and of course, Harbour Road in Paget.
Police will be closing off the east bound lane of Harbour Road between Manse Road and Lovers Lane to allow cars to park/watch boats as they make their way along the Paget shoreline.
Front Street will remain open, but the southern parking lane from Parliament Street to Albouy’s Point will be roped off to provide spectators with extra space along the Hamilton waterfront.
In addition, the car park opposite the Bank of Bermuda, as well as Albouy’s Point, will be closed to all traffic from 4pm onwards on the night of the parade.
