Energy Efficient System’s Local Launch

December 8, 2011

Canada’s Smartcool Systems Inc. today [Dec. 8] announced that Bermuda Engineering Co. Ltd. has registered very positive results on initial testing of its ECO3 system with local architectural firm Cooper Gardner in partnership with Air Care Ltd.

“The ECO3 installation on our office air conditioning unit will cut our electricity bill by over $550 per year, giving us a return on investment in under two years,” say partners John Gardner and Julia van Beelen, from Cooper Gardner. “This increased energy efficiency is helping us meet our goal of becoming a greener company and makes clear economic sense.”

“We are very excited to add the ECO3 to our roster of high quality energy efficiency products,” says Stuart Kriendler, manager at Bermuda Engineering. “The commercial electricity rate in Bermuda is near $0.30/kWh, with residential rates nearing $0.40/kWh, so our customers are always looking for ways to reduce their energy consumption.

“As the only distributor of the ECO3 here, we are able to offer them an unparalleled option to cut air conditioning and refrigeration costs.”

“We look forward to working with Bermuda Engineering, since they are a highly qualified partner in an ideal market for our technology,” says George Burnes, president & CEO of Smartcool.

Bermuda Engineering is a fourth generation family business dedicated to improving energy efficiency and implementing renewable energy systems in Bermuda.

In October, the company was awarded ‘Best Use of Green Tech’ at the Bermuda Tech Awards.
