Prisoner Given 6 Months For Death Threats
A 21-year-old Westgate prisoner had six months added on to his sentence this morning [Dec.8] after admitting telling Corrections Officers he would kill them when he is released.
In Magistrates Court, before Senior Magistrate Archie Warner, 21-year old Westgate Correctional Facility inmate Desmond Richardson pleaded guilty to four charges of using threatening words to a Corrections Officer.
The offences occurred around 12:30pm on Sunday 20th November 2011 when four Corrections Officers sought to carry out a search of Mr Richardson and others in the Maximum Security wing at Westgate.
On attempting to carry out their duty, Mr Richardson refused to accept their instructions and follow their orders, and threatened the four officers saying, amongst other things that: “I’m going to kill you all when I get out.”
Given the opportunity to explain his actions, Mr Richardson told the Magistrate: “I apologize. I’m trying to get my G.E.D.” and he explained that he had objected to the Corrections Officers touching him and pulling on him.
The Prosecutor informed the Magistrate that Mr Richardson had been convicted and incarcerated in 2010 and was serving out a two year sentence. Asked by the Magistrate when he was due for release, he said on 18th December 2012.
The Magistrate convicted Mr Richardson of the four offences and sentenced him to six months in prison on each charge; but with each of the four six month periods to run concurrently with each other. However, the six month sentence on these charges was to run consecutive to his previous two year sentence.

His sorry and trying to get his GED?! Does that really work in the court?! The 6 months should all run consecutive, in today’s times we shouldn’t take threats like that lightly. Sit him down for another 2 yrs because he clearly hasn’t been rehabilitated if such threats flow from his mouth during a search of his cell. He knows the cells get searched if he wants privacy he needs to stay out of jail

GED?! He needs two more years for Threatening Officers! Justice System is a joke, a man gets 5yrs for sending a text to kill his girlfriend and this fool threatens to kill Officers for doing their job and he only gets 6 months!
