Man Charged: $1.4 Million Drug Case

December 9, 2011

This morning [Dec.9] in Magistrates Court 46-year-old Shannon Forth was charged with importing drugs valued at over a million dollars, and was given bail in the amount of a million dollars.

Mr Forth had been charged with the offences of importing diamorphine [heroin] and of possessing a quantity of diamorphine with intent to supply.

The offence was alleged to have occurred on 6th December at the LFW Airport when Mr Forth, a Bermuda resident, arrived on a flight from Canada.

The Prosecutor said that the amount of the illegal drug was 483.7 grams with a street value of just over $1,400,000.

After hearing bail arguments, the Senior Magistrate set bail at $1,000,000 with a requirement for a Surety in a similar amount.

The Magistrate also required that Mr Forth – assuming he made bail – must reside at set Somerset residence, which was said to be the residence of his brother; and must report to the Somerset Police Station every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 8:00am and 8:00pm.

Mr Forth must re-appear for mention on 23rd December at 10:00am at Plea Court.

I just don’t get it! What’s wrong with the IDIOTS who continue to think they can get away with importing drugs and ammunition? Why take such STUPID

Nice job BDA Customs! Keep catching those hard drug importers & forget about the ganja. No one breaks into a home to steal money for their next ganja fix but they will break in to support their heroin addiction.

Then again if MAWI supplied addicts with their fix onsite with clean needles like some countries in Europe do it would take away the fuel for gang wars, reduce the amount of break ins & limit the spread of HIV. It’s not a perfect solution because some dealers will still get business from supplying white collar coke heads but they don’t buy from gang bangers or burglarize neighborhoods. Besides who cares if white collar workers get perforated septums they’re educated enough to know better.

Obviously the success rate of those who import drugs through the airport is high enough for ppl to think that the odds are in their favor.
