Marico Bassett Jailed For 25 Years

December 6, 2011

This morning [Dec.6] Marico Bassett, who was convicted of shooting a man in broad daylight outside a West End bar, was sentenced to 25 years in prison, and must serve half the sentence before being considered for parole.

During the sentencing, Chief Justice Richard Ground said that Mr Bassett had “shown no remorse,” and had a number of past criminal convictions.

Mr. Bassett, 21, gunned down 45-year-old Randy Lightbourne outside the Charing Cross Tavern on July 23, 2010.

At his first Supreme Court trial in March 2011, Mr. Bassett was found guilty on a charge of unlawfully possessing ammunition, however the jury was unable to reach a verdict on the attempted murder charge.

A retrial was ordered which got underway on October 18, and saw Mr. Bassett convicted of attempted murder.

Victim Randy Lightbourne, 45, testified at both trials saying he recognised Mr. Bassett when he rode a motorcyle into the parking lot of Somerset’s Charing Cross Tavern at approximately 5pm that afternoon and began shooting at him.

Mr. Lightbourne was shot seven times and spent months recovering from multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Bassett was taken into custody soon after the shooting and charged with attempted murder.

The gun used by Mr. Bassett has subsequently been linked to multiple West End shootings, including at least one murder. During the trial, the Prosecution argued that Mr. Bassett shot Mr Lightbourne to “move up the ranks” of the West End MOB gang.

  1. Huh says:

So he is only required by law to serve 12.5 yrs for attempted murder!? R u serious?! Are these judges paying attention to the environment in Bermuda and the serious message that so many of them have failed to send to drug dealers, murderers and other perpetrators of violent crime?!! Attention judge….this man had full intentions of murdering another human being! A mandatory 12.5 yrs?! Have u been on the bench so long and seen so much that u have become insensitive to the true value of life like so many of the defendants that have stood before you or was my rant focused at the wrong branch of government? Were the stipulations you meeted out under the current maximum restraints allowed by the law? If so, then I ask this govt. to radically amend these laws to express the proper and adequate justice deserved and demanded by every victim of violent crime and drug abuse!!

    • hammer time says:

Shut up! Who are you to judge what sentence he deems is necessary?! 12.5 years may not be a reasonable sentence considering the brutelness of the crime he committed, but its still a hell of a lot time for a young man of his age to sit & think about what’s he done to his own self & life. I’m the same age as him myself and if I coudlnt even imagine serving a 10.5 year sentence, which would be half of my life in a cell.Well he has 2 more years on top of that so just be grateful justice was served and get on with your damn life & pray that he turns his life around for the better in that time. He made a BIG mistake & now he’s suffering for it so let him live with it! CASE CLOSED!

      • MinorMatters says:

that’s the damn point! Justice has not been served over and over again!!! Too many little damn asses around this lovely country causing problems. And I am fed up. You SHUT UP!

      • just sayin says:

And let’s hope he actually does that: takes a look back and think about the wrong he has done and not get caught up in a whole pile of other foolishnesss

      • Huh says:

@ hammer time….your words came from the same place as most criminals who perform such unspeakable acts ….self centered, self motivating, self preserving and plain old selfish! It ain’t about YOU! It’s about the victims receiving justice! All it would have taken is one of those bullets an inch in one direction or another and Lightbourne would have NO time to reflect as you claim the defendant will do! And according to the judge, he has shown no remorse which only goes to my point of getting and keeping dangers to society off of the streets! If you think that 12.5 yrs is sufficient for what he did then I suggest you consider the second by second horror that the victim went through as he was being shot and saw his life flash before his eyes. I suggest you consider the indescribable horror of the last few minutes of those who have been fatally killed by gun crime as they fought unsuccessfully to hold onto their lives only to have it slip away for all eternity! Your arguments are extremely short sighted and don’t extend beyond your nose so I would suggest that YOU shut the thing below it until you gain the maturity to think beyond your own 4 walls!

      • Notorious says:

@hammer time Attempting to murder someone is NOT a mistake! It was a conscious and intentional act of violence, what did you think he intended to do when he shot him? Just hurt him a little? Did he pull the trigger by mistake? No he wanted to do major damage i.e. kill him. You couldn’t imagine serving a prison term that was half of your life? Well don’t shoot anyone, he knew the consequences of his actions(the loss of a life and prison time for himself) so he deserves the 12.5 years and more.

      • r u dopey? says:

@ hammer time…just cause you’re young doesn’t mean you have to sound dumb. take your head out of the sand. the dude tried to murder someone bruh!

    • Ganja Mon says:

Selling drugs is a violent crime?? damn I didnt know !!

    • THE TRUTH!! says:

I HAVE READ WHAT YOU ALL WROTE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. WHO GIVES A CRAP. YOU ALL DON’T KNOW WHAT RANDY LIGHTBOURNE DID. YOU ALL GO WORK 9-5 AND LOCK YOUR DOORS AND WINDOWS AT NIGHT.

RANDY AINT NO SAINT JUST ASKED ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN IN CASEMASE OR WESTGATE. ASK THEM WHO THEY CALLED “THE LEGEND. STOP SLEEPING BERMUDA DAMM!!!

      • Huh says:

Has the morally slow train stopped at this location or something ?! Dayum…no one is calling Lightbourne a saint! Your words seem to try and justify his attempted murder!?

        • THE TRUTH!! says:

DID YOU DO WHAT I ASKED? IF NO THEN STFU! FIND OUT THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE.

          • Just saying... says:

            boop boop boop!

          • CAT says:

Wow “Truth”! No one said he was a saint…However no one has the right to take anothers life! you sound so stupid!!!

          • Really?? says:

I know who Legend is and what he has done. Are you saying that he was justifibly shot? So because he is who he is it gives some one the right to kill him and not be punished for the crime. You need to wake the hell up. That’s what’s wrong with these guys. People like you trying to justify their actions just because the victim was bad. So what if stole some one’s package or robbed some one, that doesn’t give you or anyone else the right to kill him. If he did feel justified to shoot then so be it, he knew the risks of his actions and he got caught so now he has to do the time. Those are the risks of being in the game. And if you’re gonna try and say Maurico wasn’t in the game then you need to drink some damn coffee and wake the hell up.

  2. Legal Reasons? says:

for sure the regulars at Westgate are looking forward to some fresh meat (let’s call him filet MIGNON!).

  3. hanging head says:

One more off the streets, so that in itself is good news

  4. Yup says:

Bad boys….Whatchaaaa Gonnaaa Doooo when they come for you!!!!! For the first time is Bassett’s life he’ll get the chance to lead a structured life where maybe he’ll get a law degree on the tab of the taxpayer!

    • charles richardson says:

If that was a subliminal swipe @ me….thank you…needed a laugh…the taxpayer did not fund my law degree. My family did. Have a nice day.

      • charles richardson says:

And if you think I say around all day just sucking off the governments resources your wrong again…I held a job every day of my prison sentence…kitchen at 5am…then Stores or laundry…or Landscaping….back in my cell by seven after working all day and then sit up until three or four in the morning studying for a degree nobody thought I could get so therefore “get ya family to pay for it”. So they did. I earned my keep and every drop of water and mouthful of food I accepted whilst at her majesty’s pleasure…I am and will always be very sorry for the damage that committing that crime did to the victims and my community…but the time has come, I think, for people like you to get over it and leave the young man (and me) alone to work out what is left of our lives in peace….

        • Rhuland says:

          Amen!

        • Huh says:

@ Charles Richardson, take it easy mate! We all (at least I do) believe in redemption and there is no doubt that you sir, have gone a long way to redeem yourself and are a productive member of society. That doesn’t negate the fact that this young man who was before the courts not only attempted to murder someone but, according to the judge, showed NO signs of remorse. I man who shows no value, or appreciation for human life is a danger to himself and the general public. Furthermore, our laws and sentencing should reflect the level of value that we place on human life. Oh yeah…I’m certain that you worked your behind off to obtain your law degree but, did you really only sleep 1 or 2 hours a night? According to your timeline you started work at 5am and then by 7pm you were back in your cell studying until 3 or 4 am. Anyway, if the govt. of this country does not show us how precious we hold the sanctity of life then God have mercy on us all!

  5. Karl Marx says:

One more off the streets and many more in wombs and many more in the communities growing up on the same path. I bet his mother says “He was no gang member” or “he was at home with me the whole time”. Whats wrong with these young black boys? So much opportunities here for them compared to less fortunate places in the world but yet they complain and their parents help them perpetuate their complaining. They should be tried and sentenced to be hanged in dock yard square in full public view. Or if that’s too barbaric, let give them them the lethal injection. I bet these little cowards who call themselves gang members would quiet themselves. If you keep locking them up, another will just take their spaces on the street.

    • Just saying... says:

FIRST AND FOREMOST, ITS NOT YOUR PLACE TO TALK ABOUT SOMEONE’S MOTHER, YOU DONT KNOW EVERYTHING SO SHUT UP. & TO BELIEVE THAT CAPITAL PUNISHMENT SHOULD BE BROUGHT BACK, ARE YOU SERIOUS??
BERMUDA IS IN SUCH A BAD CLIMATE BECAUSE OF NEGATIVE PEOPLE WHO CONSTANTLY BRING DOWN OTHERS. INSTEAD OF COMING TOGETHER AND HELPING EACH OTHER OUT WE COME ONLINE AND ABUSE EACH OTHER. WITH THIS TYPE OF ATTITUDE, BERMUDA WILL NOT IMPROVE. & FOR EVERYONE SAYING HE SHOULD’VE GOT MORE, I HOPE YOU WERE SCREAMING THAT SAME STORY WHEN ALL THESE RAPIST WENT UP. BET YA BOOTS YOU WERENT. YOU LIKE THE HYPE OF THE GANG VIOLENCE, GIVES YOU SOMETHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT. GO GET A LIFE
AND FYI, IN THEORY PRISONS ARE REHAB FACILITIES. TO HELP PPL NOT TO MAKE THEM SUFFER, SO GO LONG WITH THAT CAPITAL PUNISHMENT NONSENSE BIE. IF THATS THE CASE YOU MIGHT AS WELL GO POLITICAL AND MAKE BDA A DICTATORSHIP, TAKE AWAY ALL THE CIVIL LIBERTIES AND THEN YOU’D BE ON HERE TYPING YA FINGERS AWAY CRYING. CAPITAL PUNISHMENT! NERVE!
AND FURTHERMORE, IF THEY BRING THAT BACK ALL YOU PPL AT TRAFFIC COURT EVERY MONTH WILL BE GETTING BEATINGS AND TOMATOES THROWN AT YOU INSTEAD OF FINES. GO READ YA HISTORY AND GET RIGHT WITH YOUR SELF. ONCE YA RIGHT WITH YOURSELF YOU WONT EVEN HAVE THE TIME TO SIT UP HERE AND VERBALLY ABUSE ALL THESE YOUNG MEN.

& FOR ALL THE COMMENTS ABOUT “OHH ANOTHER ONE OFF THE STREETS” THEY CAN GO LONG TO BECAUSE I KNOW FOR A FACT RANDY LIGHTBOURNE IS PROBABLY STILL SCHEMING AND DOING SOME TYPE OF ILLEGAL BUSINESS.

LOVE YA KIDS, YA NEIGHBOURS, YA BROTHERS, SUPPORT & HELP ONE ANOTHER. THAT’S WHAT A COMMUNITY DOES.
TOOOO MUCH HATE IN SOCIETY, NOW THAT SHOULD BE A CRIME

      • navin johnson says:

we were a dictatorship until November of 2010

      • Huh says:

@ just sayin….are you insane?! Please go back and re-read everything you just said with a clear head because if you think you can justify deviant behavior by pointing to other deviant behavior then God help us all! And I hope he does receive rehabilitation in prison but don’t try to bamboozle us with YOUR theoretical definition of prison because prisons were NOT established to be rehabilitation facilities. Please read the following Webster definition of prison: 1: a state of confinement or captivity
2: a place of confinement especially for lawbreakers; specifically an instituion ( as one under state jurisdiction) for confinement Of persons convicted of serious crimes

You sound like some kind of leftist extremist, talking about tickets and tomatoes. Please do us all a favor and get your emotions firmly planted in reality before you come on here spouting a mindless diatribe
where u condemn the law abiding citizens and defend the perpetrators of unspeakable crimes against humanity. I’ve made no accusations against this man’s family nor do I intend to. However, what this man CHOSE to do must be truly dealt with at the level of value we place on the sanctity of human life!

        • Yup says:

          Tru Dat!!!!!!

        • Just saying... says:

oh ya, a dictionary definition isnt theory. theory is the concept and reason behind something, so dont come at me like i dont know what im talking about. I STUDY IT! Go buy some crime and punishment books. Im not a yo yo im an educated young person whos done the research and I know what Im talking about. Same concepts Im referring to are found all through out the books and essays written my scholars way smarter than you whackos.

          • Huh says:

Sigh…please look up the websters definition of a theory! In addition, rehab is not mandatory for prisoners in most prisons throughout the world. The only time it is compulsory is when the judge mandates it. Most prisons are simple holding facilities and revolving doors for the career criminal. Rehab is a noble idea and probably should be standard practice. However, the primary and universal concept and reason for prison facilities is not to help rehab prisoners and for you to make the assertion that they are is ludicrous and not based on fact. As a matter of fact, it was only a few years ago when being sentenced not only came with a certain amount of time but the judge would add x amount of years of HARD LABOR. That sounds like the intent was actually to make them suffer, which is also why they used to only have bread and water in many prisons. So please be intellectually honest when you attempt to tell us what the true purpose of a prison is! Sounds to me like your ideal prison would be one that rehabs all it’s prisoners and helps them and makes sure they don’t suffer but that’s truly not why prisons were built.

      • r u dopey? says:

@ just sayin…you sound like a yoyo! Exactly which side of this issue are you on?

      • Karl Marx says:

Talk all you want but it is what it is. For the most part mothers have shielded these young criminals. An eye for an eye. I wont take that back. If you take a life by murder then you should face your death too once it is proved beyond a doubt that you did it. end of argument.

      • Wondering says:

Yup, RL is living off the people of bermuda in England – the St. David’s stil mourn the loss of their friends and buddies – Freddie and Maxi…. It has been said countless times RL is out there in Witness protection – why, he played his cards with that young man and got the key to get out of jail. Can’t say it is unbelievable…

        • Fed de fat up says:

See you dont know what ya talking bout. U have the wrong brother.

        • your ignorance is bliss says:

Are you stupid “wondering?” …. your name sutis your ignarance as clearly your mind has wandered! RL had NOTHING to do with the incident in St. Davids. You have the wrong RL idiot!

So shut the F..k up! Further more, RL is NOT in England. Every person on the witness program is NOT shuffled off to England. Further more, RL was already OUT OF JAIL so the unfortunate attack ion his life was NOT a get out of Jail free card. Murder and attempted murder should never be condoned or measured depending upon the victim’s past.

You ignaorance is bliss! STAY OFF this site. Your ignarance is embarrassing!

      • Really?? says:

We can say something about his mother because she got on the stand to say that he was home the time of the shooting and that he was not involved in gangs. The jury clearly didn’t believe her. She needs to take some responsibility for always making excuses for her son and ignoring the obvious signs of trouble he showed growing up. That boy has been doing things from a young age. And I do know the family. The mother used to say “not my son”. She lived in denial and now it’s time for her to feel the consequences of her non-action when there was time to act. You can sit here and defend him and her but in the end only she knows the truth of her actions and if she feels she did everything she could then she should sleep very soundly at night.

  6. Truth (Original) says:

Having sentences run concurrently really makes the other sentences meted out for use of a firearm and posession of ammunition irrelavent. What is the point, really?

He got 15 years for attempted and at 12.5 years he is eligible for parole. The time for the gun crime has really gone by the way side which is not the message we need to be sending out.

I am always diappointed in the lenience shown to serious crimes in this island of ours.

    • Family Man says:

Yeah, I wonder if I can pay my traffic fines ‘concurrently’.

  7. lili says:

it is wat it is buh

  8. Taxpayer says:

Great. Another few million our tax paying dollars have to be spent on to keep an attempted murderer living in climate controlled, three meal a day cablevisioned free medical, dental and educational comfort.
Think about how many underprivilidged children and families cannot afford this but abide by the laws of the land.

Those prisoners up there should be made to plant a garden and care for chickens pigs and cows to provide themselves with food to eat. To ease the burden of the tax payer.

Let them know that prison isn’t a place to go for a vacation. Because that is what it seems like and that is why no one is affraid to go anymore.

And if all else fails. A 10ft length of rope only cost $12.50 at Gorhams.

    • Ganja Mon says:

You sound like you have never been to West Gate before. Everyone doesn’t get a TV and all that other crap your rambling about. That is earned after years of following the rules and in other words being good in prison.

The like him being eligible for parole. Its not guaranteed he will get out in 12 yrs either.

Its real hard to stay on the straight and narrow in WestGate. One little incident and they can kiss everything they earned down the drain.

You people are talking out your a$$ and need toilet paper !!

      • Huh says:

We know he’s not guaranteed to be out in 12.5 yrs. the point is that he is only mandated to do a minimum of 12.5 yrs which doesn’t fit with the nature and intent of the crime. And we all know how sympathetic and lenient the Bda parole board has been lately!

    • Real says:

I don’t think I would want these prisoners around any pigs and chickens. You know what they would do to them.

  9. VJ says:

Why are some people bringing his mother into this or implying he had no structure in this life? I happen to know his mother and she’s a fine lady and upstanding citizen so leave her out of it. Sometimes no matter how you raise your kids they just go astray and its very unfair to take pot shots at her. HE committed the crime, so leave his mother out of it folks!

    • trick are for kds says:

Well said VJ!!! comments like that always come from those on the outside looking in….A child can be brought up in a secure, loving and stable environment and STILL GO ASTRAY!!! I see it everyday at school..I agree with you 100% HE pulled the trigger…not his mother…..

  10. Just Curious says:

Can the govt send these guys to another prison ( US or Mexico or somewhere in South america), to serve their time… we will save some taxpayers money

    • Yup says:

Cuba would allow Bermuda to build a prison, and Cuban workers would gladly work there. And when our prisoner come home they will kiss the crab grass and never do another bad deed. Bermuda’s prison is little more than free rehab!!!

  11. MYSTERY LADY says:

THAT GOES FOR THOSE SOMERSET PUNKS THAT GO AROUND CARRYING N USING A GUN AND BEING A NUISANCE TO THE PUBLIC! HE SHOULD HAD GOT LIFE!!!!!!

  12. tricks are for kids..... says:

Marico is going to serve his time..but RL still will have to “answer to his demons” he has done a lot as well (wasn’t called “Legend” for nothing)and has gotten away with it…..stories that would put Marico’s to shame. and while two wrongs don’t make a right just know that while you may have locked one away you still have a devil in disguise that’s running the streets and he goes by the name of RL……

  13. Graham Maule says:

When I read the remarks on Bernews.com, I feel extremely upset because of the negativity and hatred that they contain.

There is a part of me that is happy that this sentence has been meted out, because I believe that in 12.5 years Marico Bassett might have taken an opportunity to pause, look at his life, and will hopefully decide to stop making the choices which landed him in Westgate.

There is an old saying, “If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime”.

I am a Somerset man, born and raised, and I feel pain when I see a family having their son taken away from them due to the poor choices that he has made.

I pray that Mr. Lightbourne finds it in his heart to forgive Mr. Bassett one day. Time is a great healer.

If I had nearly lost my life in a shooting, I am sure that I would still think that 25 years was not enough time. That said, that does not mean that I don’t think that I could never change my mind.

    Our community needs healing.

I drive past MOB members nearly every day on the way home from work. I know one of the MOB members, and it hurts my heart to see him, his grandfather was an inspiring influence to me when I was much younger. His family members are like family to me, and are very strong members of the local community.

I call myself a community activist because I have been trying to help heal the community for more than 25 years, while serving in the Somerset Brigade Band.

To all of the people who are writing extremely negative comments on bernews.com, I would like you all to take a moment to reflect on the wisdom of these words:

“Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds”- Hon. R. N. Marley

To those in our community who are too intimidated or threatened to stand up against this insanity by testifying in court on behalf of the victims of crime, I would like to remind you that there are still murderers walking free in Bermuda today. One case that has hit home for me is the Freddy Maybury murder case. Freddy’s two sons are being raised without their father. Yes, I was at Freddy’s funeral, and his uncle is another member of my Somerset Brigade Band family. We need to stand up, speak out, and take action to ensure that Freddy’s death was NOT in vain. There are far too many unsolved murders in our country.

I will close with another Marley quote: “Just Can’t Live That Negative Way! Make Way For The Positive Day”

  14. are you ppl serz says:

Not to take the side of the guilty…. But I agree with “the truth” “Legend” is a bad b****rd… do you ppl forget the horror over the years … really… look up that Bermuda history..ppl in Bermuda just jump on the side of the victim… Its 2011 n guns r on the street.karma a bitch…

  15. Down 'n' Dirty says:

Truth be told . The victim should never have been on the streets in the first place . The parole board is to blame for all this mess . The victim has a very long and extensive criminal record dating back to the ’80s ; even marriage didn’t slow this careerer criminal down . It is very unfortunate that Mr. Bassett has lost even one hour behind bars for a crime were the victim and only witness has one eye and is known to the police as a liar and thief . My advice to the Bassett family ; Apeal , Apeal , Apeal .

Please don’t allow the public purse to support this person who has been a damn menace to society longer than Mr.Bassett has been alive .

    • CAT says:

      Guilty, Guilty, Guilty!!! STFU!!!

      • Down 'n' Dirty says:

At the time Mr.Lightbourne was shot he was , and still is on parole . In keeping with the terms of parole it was quite illegal for him to be hanging around places such as Charing Cross .

        Appeal , Appeal, Appeal .

        • Bdasleeps says:

Are u tryin ta say that Bassett should be freed because Lightbourne should not have been near a bar?! Did u really just make that statement!? So, if he had been shot outside of his home by the same man under the same circumstances, would it then be ok to have Bassett pay for his callous act of violence?! There are some warped perceptions on this page!

  16. drunkenUrsula says:

We need to rid yourselves of all this human trash hanging on the corner Cambridge n Main road…these fools are worthless and have no self worth….12.5yrs not enough for that boy…. mind you that idiot Randy Lightbourne, no angel…..

  19. Please says:

Many of you are so full of it! RL definitely got what he deserved. You think Mr Bassett woke up that dat saying I’m kill someone and Randy just happened to be the target! Hell no that guy had it coming to him. There was so many loop holes in that case its sickening how can a legally blind man be a eye witness his eyes dont work! Only in Bermuda keep ya head up Rico. Free Rico MOB…not a gang but a family.

  20. amen says:

lol @charles richardson! Should you be congratulated because you actually did something useful with your time while in prison? What else were you going to do? Reformed? I’ve seen you in the paper a few times since being out of prison and it wasn’t with a client. Now you are out and helping other criminals get off too. It’s the circle of life. People will never get over it or forget.

I was thinking along the same lines as that person with people saying give him chance to turn his life around.

If you are capable and willing and were going to commit MURDER(in any instance-not specifically this case) you don’t deserve any chance of turning your life around in my opinion. You are forever crossed off. Attempted murder is not the same as stealing or something like that.

    • j says:

Ya saying anything man. I’d trust a murderer over a thief, liar and a rapist. You have to reallly cross someone for them to murder unless they’re one of those Criminal Minds type but a thief ALWAYS steals, a liar ALWAYS lies.

      Think about it.
& that gang “expert” just goes on facebook stalks these lots pictures, sees them partying together and claims sh!t like “that was the initiation day” “they’re all dressed in white tees for a code”. The prisoners aren’t wasting your money, government is for paying that ass. Anyone can make Assumptions if thats the case.& I know for a fact he uses facebook as his “expertise” so block ya pages

In any other country this case would’ve been thrown out, no GSR on his hands, RL claims he saw his tatt on his hands so that means he weren’t wearing gloves. And how u see a tatt on someones fingers if ya being shot at?? where they do that at?

WEATHER RL AS YOU FOLKS ON HERE DESCRIBE HIM WAS A MENACE AN NO HE WAS NO SAINT BUT THERE IS THIS THING CALLED FORGIVNESS!!! THERE IS ALSO A THING CALLED REHABILATION!! ALSO YOU SIT THERE AND JUDGE MARICO MOTHER, AN YOU SAY YOU KNOW THE FAMILY AND SHE WAS IN DENIAL. KNOW YOUR FACTS BEFORE YOU TALK ABOUT MY FAMILY!! IN HER DEFENCE THOUGH SHE TRIED EVERYTHING SHE COULD!!! (THAT IS A FACT) MARICO HAD AND MADE CHOICES UNFORTUNATELY IT WASN’T A GOOD ONE AN HE HAS TO SUFFER FOR IT. IT’S A SHAME BUT HE WAS WARNED OF THE CONSEQUENCES OF HIS ACTIONS.HE WILL HAVE TIME TO THINK ABOUT IT . NOW FOR THE FOOL THAT DONT KNOW THE FACTS ABOUT RL YOU DID HAVE THE WRONG BROTHER DUDE!! LIKE I SAID KNOW YA FACTS ABOUT MY FAMILY BEFORE YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH!! (FOR THE RECORD THOUGH IT’S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS HE IS ALSO MY FAMILY AN I KNOW BOTH OF THEM PERSONALY!!! WE LIVE LIKE PRIMITIVE ANAMALS IN THESE TIMES . WE NEED TO STOP KILLING EACH OTHERS IT’S NOT A WHITE OR BLACK THING! IT’S A SENSELESS THING!! WE HAVE CHOICES!!! WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE!!! PEACE&LOVE!!!

    • Bdasleeps says:

@deez…exactly how much time do YOU JUDGE YOUR LIFE to be worth? And for the record, we ain’t judgin da person, we’re judging the horrendous acts and the premeditation of those acts, combined with the absence of remorse on behalf of the assailant top off by an unacceptable rise in gun crime/stabbings and all around murders on this little island. Please tell us, exactly when should this island, government and law enforcement lay down the gauntlet, draw the line and let those involved in illicit activity know that enough is enough and we’re not going to take it anymore? When do we make ppl understand that if u do the crime u will do some real time. Should we wait until someone who has been given a slap on the wrist comes crawling through your bedroom window? Or should we wait until the habitual violent offender fires a gun at his rival and the stray bullet hits you or one of your children? As for me, I will continue to judge what sentence I deem appropriate by voting for those who believe in the rule, reign and enforcement of law. I will also continue to lobby my MPs
encouraging them to make the necessary adjustments in their judgement about how much time should
handed for particular crimes. This….is what gives ME the right to judge what kind a sentence I believe violent
criminals should receive….I am a member of society and therefore I DO have a say! No more and no less
than you but I DO have a say! Forgiveness and rehab is good, but punishment still needs to be administered!
