Videos: BTFA Awards Banquet
On Sunday evening [Dec.18] the Bermuda Track & Field Association [BTFA] held their Awards Banquet at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.
Olympians Tyrone Smith and Arantxa King both spoke at the gala dinner, and Ms King was named the Open Female Athlete of the Year, while Mr. Smith took the honours in the Open Male Division.
In the Under 17 Age Group Category, Kyrah Scraders was named Female Athlete of the Year, while Bruce Degrilla was voted as the Male Athlete of the Year.
Ashley Berry was named as the Under 20 Female Athlete of the Year, with Shaquille Dill taking the Under 20 Boy’s Title.
Jennifer Alen and Chris Estwanik took home the Open Female and Male 2011 Championships Titles, while Deon Breary and Gary Raynor were named the Female and Male Master Champions.
Speaking after the Banquet, BTFA President Donna Watson said, “I thought that the banquet was a great event and the speakes were excellent. Sharing their experiences with the athletes can only encourage them to keep striving for the top.
“The athletes who were awarded really deserved them as they all have had stellar years. We wanted to show our coaches that we truly appreciate all of the work and volunteer hours that they put in so we wanted to honor them this year. All in all a good night had by all.”
