“Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 16 year old Leshun Wolffe is encouraged to contact the Vulnerable Persons Unit on 295-0011.”
Update Sunday [Jan.21]: A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating 16 year old Leshun Wolffe. He returned safe and well Sunday afternoon.”
Honestly, I don’t care. This teen has been reported ‘missing’ by the police four times now… it’s a bit old now, to be honest.
Again Leshun!!!!! SMH!! RME!!! SMT!!! all at the same time!!!
Oh Brother!!!!!!!!!! A missing teen again????????????
Bernews this is pathetic!
@ Ryan Whiting….are you serious? If you don’t care, why did you see the need to post? That was probably just best kept to yourself…why the need to broadcast the fact that YOU DO NOT CARE???
I once before said that once these teens were found …then their whereabouts need to be made public…but i was just called “pokey”….so ya we dont care!
Only a sick or disturbed person “would not care” when a youth is troubled enough to run away, go missing or whatever you want to call it. My point is, if you don’t care why do you feel the need to post it? You obviously care enough to take the time out to let everybody know that you don’t care. Something must be seriously wrong with you….or maybe you just have too much time on your hands!!! BTW I don’t think that anybody cares that you don’t care!!!!
I have reasons for not caring, VJ. However, I am apparently not allowed to disclose specifics. Just know that I have friends who have personally been affected by the actions some of these “runaway” teens while they have been ‘missing,’ and thus have no sympathy for them.
Telling us that you don’t care is a “specific” so please dont care enough to disclose that to us next time ok.
The rest of us care no matter how many times he runs away. Sympathy and empathy are two different things. While it is perfectly human to not sympathise at times, it is not human to lack empathy.
Isnt there a full 24 hour period that has to pass before people are classified as “missing”? And maybe there should be some policy in place for these repeat disappearing act that these children are pulling. I can understand why people would “not care”, due to the fact that it seems to be the same persons that do this. Parents need to start being held accountable. Perhaps a little sexy ankle bracelet on these runaways for a while might do them some good.
As for repeat kids running away, this is causing the police not to be able to focus on crime and other things, there should be a consequence. If they don’t get the help needed at home, they should be moved to a foster home. There’s more to say I’m sure, but these young kids are in danger of becoming a problem for society if not looked after now.
Sorry PLP shut us down
Oh dear…that sounds deep but in that case I can understand your position….
Mothers and Fathers……..be parents, set rules and enforce them. Parents, please don’t shut the other parent out if you two are no longer a couple (i don’t know this kid or his parents and am not saying this is happening here). You have to do it for the sake of your child(ren). BE RESPONSIBLE and stop pointing fingers at the other parent. You both laid down and enjoyed your moments, now deal with it.
My first reaction to the not caring comment was that it sounded rather cold. It’s truly scary when people become desensitized to this…these are children we’re talking about after all. However, in a way I can understand people being fed up but at the end of the day something must be going wrong with these kids. If they go missing from where they’re supposed to be, the police have to make an appeal…no matter how tired people may be of seeing the same names over and over. Like somebody said on a previous blog, something really could have happened this time. So what happens if that’s the case…then everybody will be screaming why didn’t the police make an appeal. Sometimes we just can’t win with our people….
This should not be on Bernews……the kid was last seen yesterday!!!!!
Hiding and missing are two different things.
Rest assured, were it another child whose name had not cropped up on here three times previous—and had not been associated with the acts of other ‘missing’ teens—I would have most certainly cared.
Put one those tracker bracelets on him !
OK, this is what- the fourth time this kiddo’s gone missing??? Doesn’t anyone wonder WHY? What’s happening with this boy’s life at home to precipitate this? Doesn’t Child Protective Services (I think that’s the name of it…) care? There’s something at the root of this, I’d bet, more than just a boy being a boy. This can’t be just a repeatedly naughty kid. This is likely an out-of-control kid if he’s from a ‘good’ family, and you have to wonder why. If his guardians or parents can’t keep him from leaving home so often, then someone else needs to get involved. I just don’t get this. And if he’s out of control, I pray that he gets some perspective and gets his life on the right path again…jeez. I just hope to God we won’t read about him in the papers, that he’s not involving himself with one of these dumbass gangs or something.
I agree that there’s a difference between ‘hiding’ and ‘missing’ since this kid knows exactly where he is. I also agree to a point that we should be told where these kids were when they were ‘missing.’ We don’t need names, but we’re never told if they were at a friend’s house, harboured by strangers, sleeping in a tent somewhere, etc. The public is asked for help, and our taxpayer dollars are used to look for these kids and then we’re never told where they were found or under what circumstances. It’s not being ‘pokey’ to ask-this is something that impacts on society so we have the right to ask.
I feel it’s horrible to say one doesn’t care even if this boy went missing one thousand times before. We don’t know why these kids run away but clearly there is a problem and I feel very sorry for them. This boy is at a very vulnerable age and I pray that he gets some assistance before he gets gobbled up by a gang or worse.
One mother cannot do it alone. One father has only one impact on a kid.
Don’t you think that the reason so many of us ‘younguns’ run away, or get into drugs and that life where we feel entitled and powerful, or have unprotected sex and do stupid stupid things is because the society around us really doesn’t care?
Many care on one level – Enough to post a comment on Bernews.
But i’d love to see all the people that post every day on Bernews actually take action. Actually fight for what they say they believe in.
Or are all us kids gonna have to run wild until Bermuda is crashing so hard that there really is no where to go but up?
can’t we stop it before that?
We’ll never know until we try.
