Tonya Marshall Joins Third Point Re
Newly-incorporated Bermuda reinsurer Third Point Re announced that Bank of Butterfield executive Tonya Marshall will join the company as executive vice president, general counsel, and secretary.
Prior to joining Third Point Re, Marshall was the general counsel and board secretary for The Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son Limited, an international banking, asset and wealth management group headquartered in Bermuda, where she was responsible for the group’s legal function and acted as corporate secretary to the group’s holding company.
Prior to joining Butterfield in 2008, Ms Marshall was employed by the international law firm of Conyers, Dill & Pearman where her practice included all aspects of corporate and commercial law with a particular focus on public company and insurance/reinsurance company matters.
Third Point LLC founder Daniel Loeb started the Bermuda reinsurance company in September, 2011 as a way to raise capital for his hedge fund that isn’t subject to client redemptions. Reinsurers, which help insurers shoulder risk, earn premiums that they invest to make a profit..
Third Point hired industry veteran John Berger as chief investment officer of the Bermuda reinsurance operation, saying in a letter to clients: “We believe that the combination of Third Point’s longstanding exceptional asset management returns, Mr. Berger’s standout underwriting track record, and a reinsurance market that may improve following multiple events in the past 12 months make it a promising time to launch Third Point Re.”
This is news worthy?
If anyone cares, i had a deliecious chicken curry sandich for lunch…
On whole grain or white bread? Whole grains rule.
This counts as Pee el Pee job gain!
Of course BNTB loses one so the net effect is exactly zero, but the Kool-Aid gang can say the new insurance company created a high paying job for a Bermudian.
Question, do you cut the crust or leave it on? I personally think cut crust makes for an attractive sandwich.
Leave the crust on!!
Good luck Ms. Marshall
