Video: James Places 6th At Euro Champs
Vanessa James and her partner Morgan Cipres represented France, and placed sixth at the 2012 European Figure Skating Championships held in Sheffield, England this week.
World silver medallists Tatiana Volosozhar/Maxim Trankov placed first in the Free Programme with 137.65 points giving them a combined score of 210.45 which won them the title of European Pairs Champions 2012.
Taking second and third position were Vera Bazarova/Yuri Larionov (126.90 points)and Ksenia Stolbova/Fedor Klimov (113.15 points) in the Free Programme earning them the silver and bronze European medals with combined scores of 193.79 and 171.81 respectively.
Ms James, along with twin sister Melyssa, lived in Bermuda as a child and attended Mount Saint Agnes Academy. Their father is Bermudian Kevin James, and they are the grandaughters of Devonshire residents Carlton and Ethlyn James.
The history making skater is the first black woman to win the British National Championships, and along with partner Yannick, became the first black couple to ever compete in Olympic pairs skating at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
