Woman Arrested, Twins Hospitalized
[Updated] A 50 year old woman was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving early this morning [Jan.29] after a collision involving two pedestrians on Woodlands Road. The pedestrians — twin brothers — are both hospitalized with one in the ICU, while the other is undergoing surgery.
A police spokesperson said, “Around 2:50am on Sunday, January 29th police and first responders attended a reported serious collision on Woodlands Road in Pembroke near the junction with Serpentine Road involving a car and two pedestrians.
“Details about how the collision occurred are unclear at this time; however, both pedestrians were reportedly seriously injured as a result.
“The victims, who are apparently twin brothers, were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.
“At last check one 35 year old Pembroke man was in fair condition in the Intensive Care Unit while the other 35 year old Pembroke man was undergoing surgery.
“The car driver, a 50 year old Paget woman, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained.
“Inquiries into this incident are ongoing. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the main police number 295-0011.”
Update Jan 30, 9.58am: Both brothers remain in the ICU listed as stable, with one brother expected to be moved to a general ward later today

I saw the ambulances rushing back towards the hospital early Sunday morning, you could tell it was something serious the way they were pushing. I’m praying for a speedy recovery of the twins….
This pisses me the hell off they check for seat belts and cell phones on the road side. How about sobriety road side checks? I hope for a speedy recovery for the twins.
Police do sobriety checks here but its usually only at 3am on the Johnny Barns round about. Drunk drivers in town know this & go around the back onto north shore to avoid so they get missed. Also out of town DUI drivers get missed out. BPS have better thinks to do on a weekend night like sitting at the 24/7 gas station eating pizza.

I guess road side sobriety checks are to much work, more work than just writing a ticket to make quick money other wise they would have put it on the books. Our law makers, the only thing they make is me sick. Get well soon twins.

Prays are with the twins, their parents, grandmother and family. Praying for a speedy and full recovery. They are great guys. Will also pray for the person who thought it was okay to drink and drive. When will the lesson be learned. So many lives have been effected by this thoughtless act.

What’s really sad about this system is that this woman has probably been advised to refuse being tested so that she’ll only be considered on suspicion of and given a lesser sentence.
Really hope these men recover from their ordeal from this completely preventable accident/crime.

Road side sobriety is not just the answer. Our culture is to drink and have a good time, which is cool, but most of us must admit we drive after a social outing….and we drive after we’ve had the 1 or 2 drinks that puts us over the legal limit. We need to change our culture really and make it cool for people to take your keys or the bartender to call you a taxi or to have breathalyzers at drinking establishments. I’m sure this lady driver wasn’t allegedly drinking alone. Praying for all parties involved.
MORE THAN HALF MY TAXI DRIVES ARE DRUNK!!! as a female, its safer to drink and drive than be subject to a drunk man at the wheel of a taxi who then finds out where you live!!!!!!!
What an unfortunate statement Sarah. If you risk subjecting yourself to harm either by drunk driving or by getting in a cab driven by a drunk then maybe the sensible choice would be to not drink. That way you can drive home sober.
