Chamber To Host Budget Breakfast

February 22, 2012

In keeping with long-standing tradition, The Bermuda Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Budget Breakfast on Monday, February 27th.

However, the format will be different as Chamber EVP Joanne MacPhee explains, “This year in response to a request from Cabinet, the Premier as Finance Minister, will join a small panel, which will collectively discuss points arising from the budget.

“This is a welcomed departure from the traditional format, where the Finance Minister would traditionally re-read the budget and then take questions directly from the floor”

Mrs. MacPhee went on to note that “The Chamber believes the panel concept will add an exciting new dynamic to the annual event.”

The moderator for the event will be PwC Partner Caroline Foulger; joining the Premier on the panel will be economist Peter Everson and Digicel CEO Wayne Caines. Both Mr. Everson and Mr. Caines are members of The Chamber’s Executive Committee.

The event, which is open to non-Chamber members, will take place at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess, starting at 8am. The panel discussion is due to start promptly at 9am following a light breakfast. Those interested in attending may register online at www.bermudacommerce.com.
