Man Jailed: Swallowing Drug Pellets

February 27, 2012

20-year-old Zeco Stovell of Middletown Lane Pembroke started a fifteen month prison sentence this morning [Feb.27] after he pleaded guilty and was convicted of two counts; importing and possessing with intent to supply.

Mr Stovell had swallowed two pellets before boarding an aircraft to return to Bermuda from a trip to the USA. The Prosecutor told Senior Magistrate Archie Warner that Mr Stovell had arrived at LF Wade Airport on 15th February 2012.

Customs had selected him for a secondary search and had advised him that that they proposed to Xray him and his luggage. Mr Stovell asked: “Do I have to go through Xray?” Assured that he was to be Xrayed, Mr Stovell then admitted having drug pellets in his possession, saying that he had swallowed two pellets for his own personal use.

Taken to KEMH and held and observed until nature took its course Mr Stovell delivered two pellets which were collected. The two pellets were found to contain 6.7gms of cocaine with a street value of $1,500. Through Duty Counsel Leopold Mills, Mr Stovell claimed that this amount was for his personal use.

Mr Mills also said that though his address had been given as Middletown Pembroke; he actually had no fixed address and was unemployed. Duty Counsel added that Mr Stovell claimed that he had been shot and had other pressing family issues.

The Senior Magistrate said that Mr Stovell’s early plea of guilty and subsequent cooperation merited a substantial discount from a sentence that carried a maximum of ten years imprisonment, and sentenced him to fifteen months in prison.

so he could have made $1500, and now we, the taxpayer have to pay 80,000…something’s a bit wrong here

    • Tommy Chong says:

I’m sure the real street value was no where close to 1500. Still you’ve got a point about the 80,000. There are more dangerous criminals than this guy on house arrest at the moment.

      • will says:

community service orders need to be put in place for drugs, not criminal sentences..besides have a law that states if you constantly skip your CS order than you will be ‘harassed’ or inconvenienced by the police on a daily basis..at least its not costing us a crap ton of money

  5. Whatever! He probably would have just waster that 1500 on Jordans.
