Upcoming: Annual Eye Institute Classic

On behalf of the Charis Foundation, a registered Bermuda charity, the Bermuda International Eye Institute, Ltd. is hosting its 10th Annual Run & Walk [Eye Institute Classic] on 11th March 2012, here in Bermuda. They are expecting three hundred  participants.

The Eye Institute Classic begins at the East End Primary School, and enjoys a very scenic route through the eastern end of historic St. George’s. The children’s race and all walkers begin at 9:00am, with the adult runners beginning at 9:30am. Organisers anticipate that the prize giving will take place at 10:30am on race day.

The  race event has been sanctioned by the Bermuda Track & Field Association, and is under the auspices of Mid Atlantic Athletic Club, and will be timed by the Bermuda Timing Systems group.  The race map is below:

A spokesperson said, :”Our population is an aging one, and the need for an increased standard of care for this segment of our population is quite pressing. We, at the Bermuda International Eye Institute, Ltd., believe that if each of us “does a little” collectively we have accomplished a lot.

“Hence, we have decided that the recipient of the proceeds of our race event will be Age Concern again this year. Celebrating our 10th year, the Eye Institute Classic has become a well established and greatly anticipated race event in Bermuda.”

“You can register o line at www.racedayworld.bm or race forms can be collected from Sportseller, Bermuda International Eye Institute, Ltd., Dr Teye-Botchway’s Office, 129 Front Street and The Athletic Club. Completed registration forms and fees should be placed in one of our drop boxes at any of these locations by 4:30pm, Wednesday, March 7th, 2012.”

“Late registration will take place on Saturday, March 10th, 2012, at the Arches in Paget from 10:00am – 2:00pm. We will also be accepting late entries on race day. “
