BASA Confirms New Swimming Records

The Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association announced New Course Records that have been set recently.

During the BASA Qualifying Meet on February 25th, Ashley Irby set a new Short Course Record in the Female 9-10 Year Old 50m Butterfly clocking a time of 35.41 breaking the previous record of 35.94 which was set on July 16, 2005 by Ashley Yearwood.

Jesse Washington’s [pictured] time of 26.98 during the Male 11-12 Year Old 50m Freestyle during the BASA Qualifying Meet saw him break the previous record of 27.22 which was set on August 01st, 1992 by William Massey.

Washington was at it again, this time he broke the Male 11-12 Year Old 100m Freestyle Record after clocking a time of 59.79 he broke the previous record of 1:00.72 which was set on August 01st, 1993 by Matthew Hammond.

Competing in a Short Course event in Edmonton, Alberta Canada on January 13th, Stephanie Myles set a new Open Female 1500m Freestyle record when she was clocked in a time of 17:49.73 she broke her own previous record of 18:37.38 which she was set on November 21st, 2009.

In the Long Course AT n T National Championships, in Atlanta, Georgia Dec 03rd 2011, Lisa Blackburn set a New Record in the Open Female 100m Breaststroke clocking a time of 1:13.21, Blackburn beat her previous record of 1:13.23 which she set on June 29th, 2011.
