Day #1: Bermuda Win Two Carifta Medals
Bermuda captured two medals on the Opening Day of the 41st CARIFTA Games, as Kyrah Scraders and Taylor Ashley Bean stood on the podium receiving thunderous applause from the Bermuda crowd.
Scraders was the first Bermudian to capture a Medal when she claimed the Silver Medal in the Under 17 Girls 1500m race clocking a time of 4:55.46, finishing behind Jamaica’s Chantai Smith who clocked a time of 4:51.36.
Bean had to fight her way through the field after getting boxed in early in the race, however she was able to overcome the challenge and claim the Bronze Medal in the 1500m.

So do proud !
So so proud, that is.
Being at CARIFTA has been very exhilirating. I note the comraderie that is promoted by sports and trust that, as Ms. Donna Wathson said, the competition is the beginnnig of some sustained social positives for Bermuda.
Well done ladies! Great race! You should be so proud of yourselves!
Great races, Kyrah and Taylor – congratulations. You made us all happy and proud.
Thanks for the info on our athletes Bernews. Watching it on ch 11. Mike Sharp doesn’t say much if anything about our athletes everything seems to be about the foreign athletes. I didn’t know the details until I read your article. Thanks
I beg to differ…Mike Sharp goes out of his way to praise our athletes, you have to remember Bermuda does not have to many participants….but Mike knows his stuff believe me.
Congratulations Bermuda!! Keep up the team spirit
well done Shaquille Dill second place silver metal…800 meters..
