Photo Set #1: 2012 Gilbert Lamb Family Fun Day

April 6, 2012

The grounds of St. David’s County Cricket Club was full of people today [Apr.6], as the club hosted its annual Gilbert Lamb Family Fun Day, which featured the always popular Mohawk Grand Prix go kart race.

A host of other events also took place during the day including a kite competition, a tug of war, hot dog eating and beer drinking contests, mechanical bull riding and more.

Vendors were on hand providing hot food and refreshments with some attendees passing through their friends camps looking for a traditional fish cake on a hot cross bun. DJ Jugglin Jason was the host for the day playing music for the crowd and announcing the races throughout the afternoon.

  1. This is what i call Bermuda and it is good to see all is NOT lost and there is a generation that can appreciate where we have come from and where we are, that gives room for were we want to go, Congradulations St. David’s

    • HAHA says:

Saw that Jeff the landscaper Sousa posted on FB that St. Davids is the place to be on Good Friday. Hope that now the OBA lost horseshoe they are not trying to invade us down here. We don’t need them and their empty promises. We have the best MP, one that’s not afraid to stand up for us and what is RIGHT!

      • St. David's For Life says:

As a fifty year old local to St.David’s my whole life and have NEVER (not even once), spent Good Friday anywhere else in Bermuda, YES; it really is Gods country.
However please leave the politics out of it. This is a community event and has nothing to do with PLP/UBP or OBA. As you may note (as you took it upon yourself to mention politics), this event has been carried on under UBP Governments and PLP Governments.
It was great of our premier to come on down and enjoy a few minutes of our hospitality. She looked quit comfortable and relaxed. Must have been a relief from having to deal with all the problems her government has gotten this Island into. You are correct about having an MP that stands. For us and what is right; I’ll leave you to interpret that as she is part of a government that has not done any-thing right for some time.
There is NO PLP St. David’s or OBA St. David’s as you mentioned about Horseshoe Bay. Save trying to get political points for a PLP ran event. It does not do justice to Gilbert Lambe Day.

        • HAHA says:

The fact remains is that she had done what is right and we don’t need an imposter to come down and post on FB how we need to elect the OBA Candidate down here. We will return our hard working MP to Parliament! We need people like MP Foggo that will do right by St. Davids and not just tow the line of the empty promisers. What had the OBA candidate ever do for st. daivds much less Bermuda? Please go take a chill pill.

          • St.David's For Life says:

“Fact remains?”…. you just don’t get it. Never disputed the hard working MP. You speak of imposters coming down, WOW!!!! Great photo opportunity for the Premier by the way. No more communities in Bermuda????
You take a chill pill as the whole subject just went completely over your head.

      • Street Ni@@a says:

  3. A GOOD Good friday says:

Looks like everybody had lots of fun, the way it’s supposd to be without being marred by violence. Congratulations to all at the east end for making this a huge success once again, never do I hear of any violence breaking out down there. Perhaps the rest of the island needs to take a page from your book.

    Well done !!!

  4. Anthony Richardson says:

Watching the bike race and go cart race was a WHOLE lot of fun. I trust that all participants are safe after the 2 accidents.

It would be interesting to see if the go cart races could be held more than once a year to allow more people to participate.

    GO St. Davids!!

  5. Anthony Richardson says:

Can we get the go cart video from the Impala camera? He had a huge lead before the accident.

  6. Sh!t Happens says:

Me and Crew had another GREAT Day down at the St Davids field. They have so many events for everyone young and old they just do it right All the time hopefully the guy in the push bike race accidend is doing much better today. I think the Go Kart race once a year is just fine JMO!!!

Oh and did i forget to say it is so PEACEFULL down at the St David’s feild a bunch of Great people n Spectators

Go St David’s keep up the Good Work…………..

  7. WinterSun says:

    Good job St. David’s!!

That was a great day, and yes, it was a peaceful family environment. Hope the guys were ok from the first bike race – the go-cart race was hilarious! Hope more people participate in them next year to make it even bigger and funnier year after year.

Wow! Did that gigantic kite really fly? I haven’t seen the pictures/video of it yet….

    Job well done!

    • Shit Happens says:

It did last year but did not make it up 2day. I was down their 2day flying my kites and they did try and put it up with no success. i then left so not sure if it ever made it up.

  8. Tommy Chong says:

Great job St. Davids for keeping the goodness alive on this island.

Wonder where liars & rummy’s comments are for this one. I guess they can’t bring the cheese without a room full of crackers.

Happy Easter to all even the confederate flag lovers.

    • rummy says:

      Oh Tommy, please.
You don’t need cheese and crackers in St. Davids.

      Ingredients don’t call for staples.

      Use what you have.

      Worked so far.

      • Tommy Chong says:

So where was your comment about Horseshoe Bay’s Good Friday going on the other article? It read to me & others as a massive staple innuendo. Meanings can still come forth even if not typed out directly. At least the word crackers only identifies a portion of a group of people who are worthy of name calling since they were either the ones holding the whip or the decedents of them who feel that their ancestors were correct in their beliefs & thats why they call themselves, “Good ol Boys”

        • rummy says:

          Simple.

          They were not published here.

          Aloha…..

    • Street Ni@@a says:

      I BELIEVE YOUR A FREAK!!!

  9. Yella says:

St. Davids, you did an awesome job putting the events together and you know that they have the best seafood in the island… A hidden treasure for sure… Don’t forget to click on Photo Set #2 on the top right hand side….Great Job St. Davids…

  10. Mayan says:
