BASA Confirm New Swimming Records
The Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association have confirmed the latest Long and Short Course Swimming Records recently set.
Long Course Records
Kiera Aitken now holds the Women’s Open 50m Backstroke Record after clocking a time of 29.31 on April 1st, 2012 at the 13th Spanish Open, Malaga in Spain, while Lisa Blackburn set a new Women’s Open 100m Breaststroke Record clocking 1:11.70 on May 11th, 2012 during the Charlotte Grand Prix, in Charlotte NC.
Nicholas Patterson now holds the Men’s Open 200m Butterfly Record after he touched the wall in a time of 2:15.36 on April 16th, 2012 during the XXIII Carifta Swimming Championships in Nassau, Bahamas. The Men’s Open 100m Breaststroke Record holder is now Julian Fletcher after he recorded a time of 1:03.89 on May 11th, 2012 at the Charlotte Grand Prix, Charlotte, NC.
During the XXIII Carifta Swimming Championships in Nassau, Bahamas Ashley Yearwood set three New Records, she now holds the Girls 17-18 Year Old 50m Freestyle Record with a time of 27.40, Yearwood then established a new Girls 17-18 Year Old 200m Freestyle Record with a time of 2:10.64 and she closed out with a new Girls 17-18 Year Old 100m Butterfly Record with a time of 1:08.02.
Short Course Records – All Set May 5th at the BASA Pool
The team of Shannon Hassell, Susanna Armano, Claudia Camara and Anna Harrington now hold the 13-14 Boy’s 4×50 Medley Relay Record after clocking a time of 2:23.27, while Jesse Washington set a new Record in the 11-12 Boy’s 50 and 100m Backstroke, during the 50m Backstroke Washington recorded a time of 31.50 and then in the 100m Backstroke Washington clocked 1:10.10.
Emma Harvey also set two new Records in the 9-10 Girls Freestyle and Backstroke. In the 200m Freestyle Harvey was clocked at 2:30.78 and then in the 100m Backstroke she recorded a time of 1:19.77.
In the 8 and Under Division Genevieve Lau set a new Girls 200m Individual Medley record with a time of 3:38.99, while Jack Harvey set a new Boy’s 50m Backstroke record with a time of 44.86 and Finn Moseley’s time of 4:14.30 saw him set a new 200m Backstroke record.
