Donal Smith Appointed Hamilton Deputy Mayor
Alderman Donal Smith has been appointed to the position of Deputy Mayor of the City of Hamilton.
Mayor of Hamilton Graeme Outerbridge stated, “I am pleased to announce that Alderman Donal Smith has agreed to assume the responsibilities of Deputy Mayor. Donal brings a strong, focused and dynamic presence to the position and I look forward to working closely with him as we settle in to our new roles.”
Alderman Donal Smith added, “I am pleased to take on the position of Deputy Mayor. I believe this is an important role on the Board and I look forward to working with the Mayor and my fellow board members as we ensure the continued efficient running of the City of Hamilton.”
Last month Graeme Outerbridge was elected as the new Mayor of Hamilton, defeating incumbent Charles Gosling with 55.33% of the vote.
During the monthly City of Hamilton board meeting, the following committees and their chairs were announced.
- Finance – Mayor Graeme Outerbridge
- Infrastructure, Development and Future – Alderman Donal Smith
- Property and Safety – Councillor Troy Symonds
- Staff, Legislation and Governance – Councillor Larry Scott
- Residents Advisory Committee – Councillor Roseann Edwards
- Business Advisory Committee – Councillor Troy Symonds
Congratulations Donal, you will make a well overdue difference in Hamilton as you are a visionary with the knowledge and gumption to get things done.

Is this the same guy who is involved at the emissions centre at the very expensive TCD ?
One thing I think the COh had wrong was the huge investment in traffic lights please relook .
I could be wrong but is Donal involved with the new hotel to be built in Hamilton?? “If” this is the case how can he sit on the COH with a vested interest in the hotel.
Was he also involved in the TCD mess??

On the traffic lights in Town, Rick, I heartily agree! They seem to mostly tie up the traffic. We should institute Left Turns on a Red light to maybe speed things up a bit.
I believe Donal is Ewart’s Cousin, and is intimately involved with the Par-la-Ville Park Hotel insider money-maker. How fortunate that he is now Deputy Mayor! Wonder who orchestrated that…?
In regards to the comment of “street wise”. What does his relation with Ewart Brown have to do with his rights as deputy Mayor? It is so like Bermudians to beat up their own when someone is getting ahead. I think that Donal Smith will be an incredible Alderman of Hamilton and whatever decisions he makes will only be beneficial. I mean really, what has anyone else really done? So to everyone under this comments list with nothing but negative things to say about him, LETS SEE YOU DO IT!!!!!
