Sailing: Antonio Bailey Leads Spring Series

June 6, 2012

After eleven Gold Fleet races Antonio Bailey [pictured] has posted a five point lead in the BODA Spring Series. The series is hosted by the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club and sponsored by the Todd Family Trust.

Bailey leads National Champion Rory Caslin despite Caslin’s strong performance as top boat during Sunday’s four races. Mikey Wollmann sits three points back in 3rd place while Chase Cooper and Campbell Patton round out the top five.

Four Silver Fleet sailors made it out to the race course in what would be considered challenging winds for the younger, less experienced sailors. Flo Nicholls kept her winning form and has an almost unstoppable lead with only ten points in eleven races.

Grace Reeves is in second place with 22 points followed by Tayte Stefaniuk in third place with 42 points. Sunday’s remaining Silver Fleeter, Charis Todd rests in 5th place after Adam Larson in the series.

Officials noted how impressed there were in particular with Tayte Stefaniuk’s efforts in the breezy conditions. Stefaniuk, a newcomer to the Silver Fleet, completed all four races admirably.

The Bronze Fleet did not race due to the unsuitable conditions so results stayed the same as the week before. Felix Cutler leads the series ahead of Jordan Etamadi and Chris Adderley.

Racing continues.
