Each One Reach One Back-To-School Campaign
With difficult times affecting many families in our community, the Bermuda Broadcasting Company, through Community Voices host, Gina Spence, has launched a new campaign, the “Bermuda Each One Reach One Back-To-School Campaign.”
The “Bermuda Each One Reach One Back-To-School Campaign” hopes to help and support families in need to obtain the items necessary for a successful school year, notably school uniforms and supplies.
GSPIC, also known as Gina Spence Productions in Christ [registered charity #856], has been selected to oversee the receipt of donations from the community on behalf of lead sponsor, BBC.
A statement issued said: “We all realize that times are hard for so many who have lost jobs or face financial set-backs due to health issues or other unforeseen situations, but we, Bermuda, can come together as a community and truly make a difference.
“Gina Spence herself believes if we work together as a community, that if each one would reach one by donating a minimum of $20, this can ease the burden for others facing a rough spot in their lives.
“Gina is committed to the cause and has already donated $100 and has also challenged several of her own close friends to match that amount, and with other donations, the total, even before the launch of the campaign, has come to $700 thus far.
“With the loss of so many jobs we can no longer say were just a pay check away from being homeless, rather we could be a day away from not having a job at all,” Ms Spence shared. “My prayer is that those who do have will consider helping those most vulnerable our children.”
Those interested in making donations can purchasing gift certificates from suitable stores selling school uniforms, shoes or school supplies, and bringing those to the BBC offices, or by making an online donation through the Gina Spence Productions HSBC bank account [No. 010832269001; note “Back to School”]. GSPIC will then purchase gift certificates and distribute the certificates to families in need via the Family Centre and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda.
It is planned that this will become an annual event.
