Two Charged After Robbery Leaves Man In ICU
In Magistrates Court this morning [Aug 8], a 21-year-old and a 17-year-old were charged with offences relating to the robbery and wounding of a man in the Rambling Lane area this past weekend.
Kyle Daniels Smith, 17, and Sergio Woolridge-Robinson, 21, were charged with robbing a man of gold chains and a Blackberry, together worth over $1,300, and using force to do so; and wounding the man with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Following a spirited exchange between lawyer Saul Dismont and Crown Counsel Mahoney, the Magistrate ruled that neither accused was to be granted bail, and that both accused were to be remanded into custody. They next appear on 17th August, when they return for Mention.
Mr Dismont asked the Magistrate to remand the 17-year-old person to the COED facility, but the Magistrate replied that that was a decision best left to the Prison authorities, and that he would not issue such an order.
The Court also heard that the victim was still in the ICU. Neither man entered a plea, as the matter can only be heard in the Supreme Court.

We will if anyone emails them in, as recall we cannot get photos of defendants remanded in custody anymore. Only those that make bail, and these two were remanded.
The new Court building means they are taken away from the Courtroom back inside the building to the holding cells, no more walk across the street like before.
However, on the Supreme Court date they are walked outside to the prison van so we have that 30 sec opportunity to get a photo.

For the record….on Court stories there are a lot of legalities involved with comments. There are many things that aren’t permitted, such as presuming guilt, mentioning any past bad acts if they exist and at times certain names are legally barred from being published, including in the comments. Not our rules, but the law of the land.
We will be held legally responsible if they are broken, and we are not prepared to be sued, arrested or put out of business as we broke the rules and allowed things that aren’t supposed to be allowed. It’s an ongoing problem, and going forward we will likely have to close the comment section on Court stories.
Ahhhhhhhh I undestand now. Thanks for the clarity. Hopefully it will not be closed as reading others opinions on certain subjects provides a bit of insight to the way the island thinks.

I feel for this young man and hope he can make a speedy recovery and also for his kids having to witness such a cowardly act upon there father like that! I will say to Bermuda “get used to it!” Not being rude but this jus how a certain town crew operate now.. They are broke as a joke and ever since the people that was feeding them are either dead or don’t want to do business with them anymore.
