Bermuda Voted Best Island In Caribbean/Atlantic

October 17, 2012

Bermuda has once again been voted “Best Island in the Caribbean/Atlantic” by readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine.

The awards appear in the November issue [on newsstands today in New York and Los Angeles] and are derived from the Condé Nast Traveler 25th Annual Readers’ Choice survey. This year a record 46,476 readers participated in the survey and Bermuda received high marks for its scenery, friendliness and ambiance.

One reader cited Bermuda for its, “…endless activities: historical sites, golf, scooters, superb shopping and dining, museums, gardens, perfumeries and aquariums, too!” while others noted the island’s “fun blend of British, American, and Caribbean Culture,” and “pink sand beaches and aqua blue waters.”

In addition to Bermuda’s top island honour, several Bermuda resort properties were once more ranked highly in the Readers’ Choice poll including The Reefs, which was again voted favorite resort in the Atlantic.

Other Bermuda properties among the “Top 12 Resorts in The Atlantic” were: Pink Beach Club (3rd), Rosewood Tucker’s Point (5th), Cambridge Beaches (8th), and Fairmont Southampton (10th).

“It is a tremendous honour for Bermuda to be selected by Condé Nast Traveler’s discerning readers as the number one travel destination among all of the Atlantic and Caribbean islands,” said Minister of Business Development and Tourism Wayne Furbert.

“The magazine’s readers are known to be frequent and highly sophisticated travelers and their award shows that Bermuda indeed has so much more to offer. It is a testament to our wonderful Bermudian people and our fantastic resort partners that our island is considered so favourably.”

I agree! BERMUDA is the most beautiful island in the world!!!I am not surprised that people will find this island, surrounded by pure ocean; to be enchanting, warm, totally amazing infrustructure, but most importantly the island itself is absolutely adorable, I’ve been here over fifty years and every day I still gasp at the beauty of the flora, fauna, trees, houses and winding roads..and I am a PURE BERMUDIAN born and bred..thanks for the vote of confidence!!!The people are also very unique and the mould was broken..When they say BERMUDA they can only mean us!!

@ Duane Santucci–Yes we are not in the Carribean, the article stated Carribean/Atlanta which means either the Carribean and Atlantic ocean…Despite the political arena, our island is beautiful, can’t deny.

    • ABM says:

The article and award is not representative of expenses, it speaks of our islands scenery, friendliness and ambiance. Simple grammer really, try re-reading so you can better understand the article.

  3. Question says:

This is a sincere question – are Pink Beach and Cambridge Beaches open still? I thought they had both closed down.

    • ABM says:

Lots of things to do in Bda, jetskiing, kitesurfing, parachuting from the back of a boat, sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, horse back riding, horse and buggy, nature walking, cycle renting, golf, glass bottom boat, rock climbing, historical museums, boat tours, train tours, water skiing, etc…..Just because you don’t like to do any of these doesn’t mean Bermuda is boring and there is nothing to do.
