Upcoming: ‘Church Folk Still Make Me Laugh!’

October 17, 2012

The Richard Allen Toni’s Drama Ministry will be presenting their 3rd drama production, a comedy play in November called ‘Church Folk Still Make Me Laugh! – All Aboard!’. The production will take place at the Ruth Seaton James Center For The Performing Arts on November 23rd and 24th.

A spokesperson said, “The Toni’s, named to honour the memory of the late Sister Tonia Minors, was started by Rev. Cyril Simmons. The show consists of 6 to 8 skits written after something funny that happened in church.

“Last year we did a skit about how people change their way of talking when the Pastor is not around, we have also created a skit talking about “Down With The System”. We will continue our funny look at church folk and how what we do makes us still laugh.

“Come out and see what Sallie and Jane are up to, what Kunta and Juanita “Bump Dhann Wiff De Sistum” Johnsons are starting, learn some things about what church people should do to raise more money, did the Lord really tell you that, and what is really sold at ChurchCo.

“Get your tickets early as this promises to be another well attended production…get ready to laugh. Visit our Facebook page to get a few sneak peeks at us as we prepare for this show.

“This year we are honoured to have the production under the distinguished patronage of Dame Jennifer Smith, Minister of Eduction.

“60% of profits will go to Matilda Smith-Williams Senior Residence and 40% will go towards administering the Tonia Minors Perseverance Scholarship.”

“Tickets are $50 for First Class and $20 for Coach and can be purchased from any AME church office (MSWSR Trustee Board Member) and from All Talk in St. George’s, Caesar’s Pharmacy in Somerset, People’s Pharmacy, and 27th Century Boutique.

“Boarding Time for show is 7.00pm and the Flight departs at 7:30pm sharp. We suggest people get there early, as the show might just start at 7.00pm. We like to start our shows on time and different and this year it will definitely be on time, maybe before 7.30pm.”

Anytime I hear someone is religious. I automatically think of them as less intelligent.

Sorry to hear that is your view on the matter. Come out to the play and see the hilarity as we poke fun at ourselves, not the “religious”, but the “relatious” (we who have a relationship with Jesus).
