Three Teens Remanded Until February Trial

November 21, 2012

On Monday [Nov 19] Senior Magistrate Archie Warner remanded three teenagers into custody until their trial on 28th February 2013.

Rechai Young, 18, Travis Lowe, 19, and Joshua Usher, 19, had been jointly charged with entering a house at Stowe Hill Court, Pembroke, on 14th November 2012; and stealing jewelry valued at over $11,000 and $450 in cash. All three pleaded not guilty to this first charge.

The three also faced various alternate other charges separately including  dishonestly received goods knowing or believing it to be stolen and trespassing.

The jewelry had been taken to Bermuda Gold Exchange who had contacted Police. Police were able to show the items to the residents and they identified the items as their property. Because Bermuda Gold Exchange requires sellers to provide ID, the three teenagers were identified and quickly rounded up.

The Senior Magistrate ordered that the three teenagers must be remanded into custody until their trial which was set for February 2013. The trio must return for mention on 7th January.

Two of the teenagers displayed no emotion upon learning they would be jailed until their trial, while one seemed shocked and perturbed upon hearing the news.

How dumb can some of you teenagers be. I can’t fathom the thought that you could think you would get away with these types of alleged crimes. I mean come on now…. what TEENAGER allegedly goes to a CASH FOR GOLD place and thinks that any right-minded person is going to hand over $11,000.00 (or whatever amount) to a teenager.

One of these CLOWNS is my nephew and I really hope they keep him there… ( ____ ) I am beginning to wonder if he enjoys being locked up with a bunch of dudes…. Maybe they all do….

I also hope that, if guilty, when February rolls around the magistrate does not consider time spent in custody as a sufficient sentence.

@bernews. Thanks for the re-wording.. I did place guilt even before a trial has taken place. Good eye.. At least I know you guys do have a proof reader.

This is what happens when you don’t give your children a nice beating. I’m 20 and I never would break into someone’s house and steal. But at the same time, I am not driven by power and greed and the acceptance of bad company around me. It is embarrassing to be part of this generation. This is where greed and money gets us. Taking things from others and thinking that we are going to get away with it. Nope. You are going to pay for it in the end.

    • me says:

Your some guy… First of all “beating” your child will not make them grow up to be a better person. You actually make the asumption that none of these young men were beaten by someone in their family as “punishment” before. First thing I learned working at the Law firm I work with now (I’m 23 by the way) is never to assume in writing. You sir sound like a douche. And as far as being embarrassed to be in our generation, fly away go somewhere else we don’t want to embarrass you anymore instead of bitching like your doing now you should be trying to help. I really think you have your head stuck up your own ass. You have no idea what circumstances put those guys in the position to have these allegations brought against them (you know its innocent until proven guilty right). Anyway to the three young men hopefully your proven not guilty or given a discharge so you can change your life.
