69-Yr-Old Man Arrested For DUI After Accident

[Updated] Emergency services responded to a single vehicle accident at approximately 11.30pm today [Dec 26] on North Shore Road, east of the Aquarium.

A 69-year-old male bike rider was injured and transported to hospital for treatment. The road was temporarily blocked while police investigated the accident scene and was reopened shortly after 1am.

Police spokesperson Dwayne Caines said, “First responders attended the scene of a collision that took place on North Shore 300 meters east of the Aquarium at 11:30pm.

“Details about the collision are sketchy at this point however the 69 year old Southampton man, who was traveling on an auxiliary cycle was taken to KEMH with what appears to be head injuries however the seriousness of his condition at this point is unknown at this time.

“Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision to contact police on 295-0011.”

Update 6.58am: The police said the 69-year-old man involved in last night’s collision is doing much better than was previously thought. “His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening and he was arrested for suspicion of driving whilst impaired,” said a police statement.

    I think at 69 you should know how harmful it is to drink and drive. I don’t feel sorry for people who drink and drive.
    Unless there was some adverse reaction with his medication and the alcohol, In my opinion this is something that should never happen. At what age do we grow up?
