Hundreds Turn Up For Salvation Army Hampers

According to a Salvation Army worker at the Salvation Army Christmas food distribution centre in the Botanical Gardens, over 1,000 hampers were given away yesterday [Dec 20].

The Salvation Army has been distributing food hampers for many years, which consist of redeemable vouchers for turkeys and food as well as a selection of food items and toys. Food vouchers were also handed out to clients at the drug treatment center yesterday morning.

The Salvation Army has said that there has been a rise in demand for these Christmas packs and that the rise is due to the increased level of unemployment in Bermuda.
