Ah, new ideas, how welcome. Hasn’t it been a wonderful week, happy christmas Bermuda.

    • frank says:

2 questions who is the speaker of the house and what happened to kenny i thought he would have got a cabinet post just sayin hmmm

      • M.P.Mountbatten JP says:

Ras Mykal is the Speaker and Kenny is in charge of the kitchen .

  2. Codfish says:

Perhaps they could work together to get all the missing money back – that would be a good start.

    • i gotta be me says:

amen to THAT. let’s start with where the money went for the Uhighars and wasn’t it given to them so they could start their new lives. Next, review all the special consultants like Renee Webb getting $150k a year for doing a job that we already pay someone from Min of Finance to do. stuff like that!

  3. Webster says:

Who is the deputy premier in the OBA ? and what role does Kenny Bascome play in this newly formed government ? have the senators been elected ?

    • Catherine says:

The deputy is Michael dunkley as a result of the last leadership race for the oba.

    • EDWIN says:

The OLD GUARD does not want kenny.

  4. Get Ready says:

    That’s what you call leadership!

  5. Why says:

This strategy makes perfect sense. All the best in allowing the spirit to work through each of you. May God bless Bermuda!

  6. Building a better Bermuda says:

5 years of PLP leadership through the global recession and it took them how long to even admit we were falling into a recession, and then we kept being told we were recovering.

Less than 1 week into the OBA leadership and they have already formed a team of the ministeries that will form the lological core for economic recovery, so that they can work together.

Positive ideas and change are a great Christmas present for Bermuda.

    • Triangle Drifter says:

Not taking long at getting up to speed are they? No time for partying or running around the world say “we won, we won”.

Of course the OBA has taken over a very battered ship, not one that was sailing along more or less problem free like the PLP took the helm of in 98.

      • longtail says:

Derrick Burgess is quite correct – the OBA did not win the election. There was no prize, there was nothing left to win. We owe $1.5B, there is a shortfall of about $1B in pensions, 1,000′s are unemployed, the hotels appear to have floundered, IB is in a tailspin. From the looks on their faces the PLP realize that they didn’t win either, although they are in the enviable position of walking away from the mess they created. Who did win??? Methinks, in some dusty, forgotten back corridor the last few UBP members are having a good laugh – for them this was the best election result in years!!!!

        • Moonbeam says:

          – and thank heavens for the old (new) UMP members – at least they ran the country successfully when they were in power !
Congratulations to all the OBA winners – you are Bermuda’s new hope (: – and shame on the PLP for the mess they got us in ):

  7. Oh this is Funny says:

You all are flippin’ kidding me.

The form a committee and all of a sudden the recession is over. Give me a flippin break!

They formed a committee people. Its not like in the world of email they can’t cc them on an email!

    Jesus!

    • KMA!!! says:

@Oh this is Funny – Who said anything about a recession being over? Was your head in the ground during this posting? Had to have been, I dont see anyone who said anything about the recession being over. Typical PLP Grunt!!! GTFOH..

      • Oh this is Funny says:

You all are applauding someone saying cabinet is going to have a meeting after the meeting.

Seriously… Think about it. Just spin, a release not worth the time of the civil servant who wote it.

    • Luis Suarez says:

No, of course not, but its a step in the right direction, and we haven’t seen too many of those under the PLP. Meanwhile they elect an inexperienced Ewart Brown clone as leader…

      • Typhoon says:

This so they can have total control over what he says and does. With the likes of Derrick Burgess, they would have no control and he would just run rampant, mouthing off his racist feelings.

    • guizza says:

I didn’t see where anyone said the recession was over. What are you reading???

    • Mad Dawg says:

Last week we couldn’t convince Paula Cox there even was a recession.

    • argosy says:

You must think we believe what Paula said: “…the economic recovery has begun.”

That’s why you guys were moved aside, funny.

Your days are over – thank goodness! Get over it and stop with the calling on the good Lord to help you out.

  8. Typhoon says:

This is indeed a good step forward for Bermuda. We are not out of the hole yet, but at least the brakes have been applied to our long slide into hell. The OBA has even offered an olive branch to PLP to join with them to help Bermuda start its recovery. And what does the PLP do, it says “NO, it’s PLP policy”. What kind of policy is that. The policy that we really don’t give a sh1t about Bermuda and bermudians in general.

    • Oh this is Funny says:

The OBA asked a PLP member to cross the floor. Even people in the OBA thought it was “naive”.

All show. The OBA’s campaign people are still writing the releases coming from government. Thought you saw spin before, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

  9. Cleancut says:

Maybe the Premier could invite Dr. Ewart Brown to chair the economic committee, he may have a lot of answers.

  10. Tom D. says:

No respect for Craig. A man that didn’t even earn is stripe. Scared to debate Paula Cox, can’t even hold a press conference. You should have stepped down and let Grant Gibbons be the leader.

  11. OZ says:

It is amazinh how people who think that we must now work together continue to spew speculative nonsense about the past. WE all have a NEW government and WE have the right to question what they do! No one is goining to convince me that the OBA is serious about fixing education with the appointment that they have made! They have litterally pick someone off the street and made him Minister! Seems to me that the friends and family concept is alive and well!

    • ponion says:

And the PLP didn’t pick people up off the street and make them Ministers?

      • yep! says:

the front liners of the PLP has had more than 13 months experience. I agree, this committee is somewhat questionable…and it’s in our very right to question their abilities

        • argosy says:

There’s only one direction in which one can head when moving off the slime at the bottom of the barrel!

  12. Jango says:

Where is LaVerne the great defender? We miss you LaVerne.

  13. Rockfish#1 says:

Bermuda held an election–The OBA won fair and square–They have begun the difficult task of rescuing Bermuda from the brink of disaster–Now the attack canines who were prepared to allow the PLP to run Bermuda as if it was their kingdom, and spend OUR money like intoxicated sailors on shore leave, have emerged from their kennels to bite the OBA whose job it is to move Bermuda foward. Amazing!!

  14. Kim Smith says:

There is no way for us to move forward in a meaningful way until we speak to each other in a different way. There is no need to be rude and disrespectful, even if you don’t agree with someone. Can you really expect a good response when you not respectful of others?

We can put a nice seal on the change of Government but committing to make a change ourselves.
