BHCT Launch Online Pledging Platform

January 8, 2013

Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trust [BHCT], a non-profit organisation that leads fundraising and charitable giving for Bermuda Hospitals Board [BHB], has launched a personalised online pledging platform through the BHCT website.

The initiative is part of the Why it Matters capital campaign to support the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital Redevelopment Project. The campaign is more than half over with just 15 months remaining. All funds raised through the personalised pledge pages will go towards Why it Matters.

Online pledging launch

This custom built online platform allows individuals or groups the opportunity to add fundraising to any new year’s resolutions or personal goals such a participating in a marathon. Each pledge page can be personalised to highlight fundraising goals, biographies and even a photo to encourage donations.

Wendy Augustus, Executive Director for the BHCT said: “We hope to revitalize personal giving through our new online pledge pages. Our website allows individuals the opportunity to participate in the Why It Matters campaign in a more meaningful way by giving them the freedom to design their own fundraising activities and goals.”

The website was developed and donated by Nova and Vertigo. “Sister companies Nova and Vertigo recognise the great work BHCT does in the community and we were delighted to be able to help,” said Sandra De Silva, Managing Director at Nova. “It’s exciting to see the website’s dynamic functionality make an impact and help raise funds as cost effectively as possible for the team.”

Kevin De Silva, Managing Director at Vertigo, said: “BHCT is an amazing charity and Vertigo was pleased to be able to contribute to a great cause. It also helps when the team is such a pleasure to work with!”

Just in time for this year’s Bermuda Marathon Weekend, being held from January 18 to 20, this initiative allows racers to raise funds by creating a personalised online pledge page. To date, seven walkers have registered and BHCT is still accepting applicants.

Participation is easy: runners/walkers must email their registration confirmation, personal fundraising goal, a photo and personal story if they have one to share to info@bhct.bm. BHCT will create an online pledge page that can be accessed at www.bhct.bm.

To support a runner/walker go online to www.bhct.bm/pledge. Participants who raise $100 or more will receive a thank you gift from the BHCT. More information is available at www.bhct.bm or by calling BHCT on 298-0152.
