Nahki Wells Does It Again: Scores vs Oxford
[Updated] Bradford City is taking on Oxford United today [Jan 12], and Bermuda’s Nahki Wells opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Oxford United equalized in the 19th minute, and as of this writing the score is level at 1-1 with approximately 20 minutes to play.
The Bradford blog described the goal: “City take the lead of the match through Nahki Wells! The Bermudian striker has the opening goal of the game when Michael Duberry attempts to head the ball back to his ‘keeper Wayne Brown but only proceeds in sending it past the on-rushing shot-stopper. Wells, who had been pressuring Duberry up until that point, uses his pace to race onto the ball and just turn it home before it bounced out for a corner.”
The 22-year-old is Bradford’s leading scorer, and reports have indicated his performances against Arsenal and Villa have alerted clubs higher up the football pyramid with the likes of Leeds, Huddersfield and Wolves all credited with an interest in the Bermudian striker.
Update 1.04pm: Wells was taken off in the 79th minute. Oxford then scored again [penalty in 90th min] to win the game 2-1.
This Guy is on ‘FIRE’
..and his flame can NOT be put OUT!!! Well done Nahki!!!!
Well Done Nahki, Hats off to his manager for resting/substituting him which is also good for his growth. Plus this prevents injuries and fatigue.
Ain’t no stopping him now, he’s on the move. I can’t even imagine what his parents must be feeling right now.
Well Done !!!!
I say that this year for Heroes Day we take all our Stars like, Nhaki, Shaun Goater, and other plaing in the USAA and Canada. Lets also include those like Brian Wellman, Troy Douglas, Peter Bromby, the Aiken swimmer and many, many other Athelets of the past and present that have done us proud. Lets make them our heroes and let them inspre our young!
Lets also add others Like the Gene Steedes, Talbot Brothers, Rebecca Faulkenbury, the guy that made it to UK’s Got Talent (sorry I forgot his name) and the many other performers and showcase them as heroes as well.
What bigger heroes and positive influences can we possibly showcase to our young people!
If anyone thinks this is a good idea please post her and maybe Bernews can help push this move to our politicians.

I heard there are also 1 or 2 Bermudians that played in the NFL for a brief period? Is there any truth to this? Anyone know their names.
We know of two – Antonio Pierce who is half Bermudian and played for the New York Giants [even played in the Superbowl], and Rocky Thompson who played back in the 70s also for the New York Giants. American football isn’t exactly our forte though, so if anyone reading knows of anyone else please let us know!
Good list, but you’ve forgotten Clyde Best if your including Shaun Goater and David Bascome on your list. Clyde Best is widely regarding as a football pioneer in Europe. He was the first black star player in the English top division. This is a man who made over 200 appearances for West Ham in a side containing world cup winners.
Also there were bermudians in the NASL in the 70s etc
Thank you Lord for blessing Nahki Wells with the good skills that he brings to the game of football/soccer and may you continue to bless him father. Also bless all the other talented Bermudians that’s the same path as Nahki. Stay Blessed and I hope you get to the big stage soon Nahki. Uno Dat
step forward,I have heard of the people you have mentioned except for Rebecca Faulkenberry, who is she and how can I find out more about her ?
Webster – she’s an actress/singer who has appeared in some pretty major Broadway productions. She is still overseas doing her thing! Couple of links below:

Thanks Bernews for the reply.
You are welcome
Big up Nahki for putting Bermy on the Football map once again.
This fella is a master,on his way up the leagues!
Believe it or not, Bermuda always had the best athletes. Funding stagnated a lot of talent here. Go Nahki wells….
