Orthopaedic Surgeon Completes Race Barefoot

January 20, 2013

014Dr Milan Oleksak, 49, an Orthopaedic Surgeon who works in Bermuda, ran both the 10K and Half Marathon in bare feet.

Originally from South Africa, Dr Oleksak says that he has been running for many years but that he has been running races in bare feet for about two years, and started doing so after a conversation with Dr Froncioni about the pros and cons of running without shoes.

After today’s [Jan 20] finish he said that his feet did hurt – but no more than but no more than if he’d run while wearing shoes.

He said that he’d even had an improvement in his running times since he’d take up barefoot running, and said that barefoot running might be a ‘running secret’.
