Finance Minister to Speak At Chamber Breakfast

February 18, 2013

Bob RichardsIn keeping with a long standing tradition the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce will host its Annual Budget Breakfast on Monday February 25th.

Chamber Executive Joanne MacPhee noted; “We are delighted to confirm that Minister of Finance, the Hon. Bob Richard, JP, MP has agreed to address the membership at our Annual Budget Breakfast, to be held the Monday morning immediately following the Friday, February 22nd Budget Statement. Last year we introduced a panel format which proved to be very popular so we have agreed to do the same again this year.

“The panel will be led by Moderator Arthur Wightman, Partner and Insurance Leader at professional services firm PwC, our exclusive sponsors for the event. Mr. Craig Simmons, Chief Economist at the Bermuda College, Mr. George Hutchings, Chief Operating Officer, OIL Insurance and President of the Association of Bermuda International Companies (ABIC) and Mr. Peter Everson of PEConsultants and Co-Chair of the Chamber’s Economics Advisory Committee, will join the Minister on the panel, so it should be an extremely interesting and thought provoking session.”

Mrs. MacPhee went on to explain further, “The Moderator will introduce our panelist and each one will have ten minutes to provide the audience with their analysis of the numbers. Our guests will be invited to submit questions in advance and on the morning of the breakfast, and it is expected that the Moderator will then lead a very lively question and answer session.”

PwC Partner Arthur Wightman concluded by noting “PwC is very pleased to be sponsoring the Chamber’s Budget Breakfast once again this year and we anticipate a larger than usual turnout for the popular event, given this is a new Minister and a new Government. The panel is made up of some of the Island’s leading economic and business minds, so we look forward to a great discussion.”

The Chamber’s Annual Budget Breakfast will take place at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess starting at 8am. The panel discussion will begin at 8:45. Those wishing to attend should contact Alison Outerbridge aouterbridge@bcc.bm.
