Bermuda In 7th Place On Carifta Medal Table
[Updated] The latest medal count from the Carifta Games being held in the Bahamas show Bermuda in 7th place. Regional powerhouses Jamaica lead with 27 medals, the hosts Bahamas have 11, and BVI and Guyana have four each.
Sakari Famous won Bermuda’s first medal, claiming a silver in the high jump. Kyrah Scraders followed that up with a silver medal in the 1500m, giving the island two medals in the track and field portion of the Carifta Games.
Competition continues, and Bermuda’s Michaiah Robinson and Dage Minors have both qualified for the 800m finals which will take place tomorrow. Robinson finished second in his U/17 heat with a time of 2:01.13, while Minors also placed second in the U/20 heat in a time of 1:56.96.
Also competing today was Tiara DeRosa who placed 7th in the U/17 girls discus with a top toss of 33.15m, while Taahira Butterfield placed 6th in her heat in the U/20 200m.
Bermuda has also won two medals in the swimming portion of the Carifta Games which is being held in Jamaica, while the track and field segment is being held in the Bahamas. You can view all our coverage of the Carifta Games here.

Update Apr 1, 6.24am: At the end of the second day of competition, Jamaica continues to lead with a total of 49 medals. Bahamas is in second with 20 medals, and Barbados is third with 11. Bermuda remains in 7th place, tied with Suriname.
