Dockyard To Host Historical Reenactments

March 26, 2013

The West End Development Corporation will be hosting Historical Reenactments on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings during the summer season.

In partnership with Select Sites Group, we will be hosting these reenactments from 9.30am from 5th May 2013 until 13th October near the Moon gate in Dockyard.

WEDCO said, “With actors in period costume giving a short performance to depict life in the Royal Naval Dockyard around 1809, explaining the historical aspects including breakwaters, fortifications, storehouses, workshops and barracks, designed to be an informative and fun event and with the added impact of a cannon being fired during the show, this will be an event not to be missed.

“Visitors will have the opportunity to have a photo taken with one of the actors each day and then to go on and explore the Royal Naval Dockyard and identify the areas they have just learnt about. Shops and restaurants as well as all activities will be open for business. This promises to be a fun glimpse into the history of the Dockyard.”
