100 Day Update From MP Lawrence Scott

April 9, 2013

Progressive Labour Party MP Lawrence Scott tweeted a pamplet recently, saying he was “Letting my residents know what I have been up to for the past 100 days since becoming their MP.” Mr Scott was elected in the 2012 General Election, and now represents the people of the Warwick South East constituency. The full size version of the pamphlet tweeted by Mr Scott is below.

Sorry, I will have nothing else to do with you bunch. It will take years to get Bermuda out of the mess we created under our PLP leadership. We need to support the new government and try to get things back on track together, not through hate and division. I can not support that any more.

  2. RME says:

I’ve been in my constituency for 13 years and I’ve never received an update from my MP on what he’s done. Well done Lawrence! You are off to a fantastic start!!!!

  3. Elizabeth Von Trumparani says:

I am not a PLP supporter. However, I would like to congratulate Mr Scott on putting out such positive remarks. Your fellow PLP members could learn a lot from you.

This is so refreshing compared to the PLP losers who are still moaning about how “The OBA didn’t really win so much as we gave it to them”. Or “OBA hasn’t fixed the terrible mess we left them yet so they are useless”.

The majority of PLP politicians will never ever see power again since they are stuck in the last century when all PLP did was moaning about race. You sir are an example of the future based upon hard honest work. If PLP had acted a bit more like this, they may have been returned to power last December.

  4. Amazed says:

I agree that this is a positive step that should be emulated by ALL politicians. While my own MP has regular meetings this kind of update would be good for those that are not able to attend meetings!

    Good work!!

  5. Good Stuff says:

I am not a PLP supporter nor do I reside in that constituency. I must, however, commend Mr. Scott on this. I feel that this is a very positive step and does demonstrate an MP working for his constituents. I am against a two party system and I believe that we should vote on the individual who we feel is a better fit. However, in the current system, particularly in the last election, I voted for the party that I felt could best lead Bermuda out of the mess created under the former Government (I say created “under” and not “by” because Bermuda likely would have experienced a reduction in growth and quite probably a decline it did not need to get to this point and the effects were most certainly exacerbated by mismanagement, incompetence and complacency).

Once again I give you much kudos, Mr. Scott. Keep up the good work.

  6. Portia says:

Interesting, but some of this seems a bit vague, particularly the item of employment. “Employment opportunities have been provided for residents and I am currently working on finding job vacanies for others that have informed me of their unemployment.”

What employment opportunities? How many jobs has he “found” for constituents and in what areas of work? How does an MP find jobs for people anyway – my understanding is that MPs are not supposed to be involved in hiring procedures.

Furthermore, if certain people did get employment, should this be added to the 2000 jobs for Bermudians that the OBA is aiming for – after all, these were jobs that were created under the OBA’s tenure, not the PLP’s.

  7. Karma says:

I must commend Mr. Scott. He is a young and intelligent Bermdudian who has a bright future ahead of him. I am not a PLP supporter, however, I have listened to MP Scott speak in the House of Assembley and was very impressed with his observations and comments.

Keep up the good work, Bermuda and our young people need you!

  8. Pastor Syl Hayward says:

@ Mr. Scott: This is a precedent setting document. Well done! I’d like my Parliamentary representative to produce something similar.

  9. bermygirl says:

This is fabulous!! Well done MP Scott. OBA and PLP MP’s should take note.

Also it is very refreshing to see the new PLP team providing something different and refreshing to what we have known under Dr Brown and Premier Cox. I love this new young vibrant team….

  10. Vibrant Team - SELL BY DATES = Victory at Polls says:

    @ Bermygirl,

Dont get carried away, this new vibrant Team is only 3-6 people (Lawrence Scott, David Burt and about 3 other MPS) the PLP must reinvent itself and rid itself of the trauma and reuptational damage that is permanently attached to the other 12+ MPs who are all well well well past their Sell By Dates and are just bad news as they are not electable as a government again:

    - Derrick “I run Chris and the Union” B
    - Luvitta
    - Wayne Flip Flop Furb, UBP, PLP, OBA/PLP, MBe
    - Little ATL “Zane D”
    - Randy big bear
    - Dennis we love you, but wouldnt wanna be you
    - Michael “I’m Bad and I knocked the #%@$ Derrick out”
    - Hottt 107.5 Glen
    - Have you been “Rolfe’d” lately
    - Teachers ret “Walter” I resign and always come back

A Vibrant Team to Make PLP win at the Polls again only means:

    - Lawrence Scott
    - Kim Wilson
    - Marc Daniels
    - Marc Bean
    - Michael Weeks
    - Walton Brown
    - David Burt
    - Renee Ming
    - Diallo Rabain
    - DONT WORRY WE HAVE 23+ more waiting for the next Primaries

Come on PLP get this done so you can get back in power and get out the OBAupb

  11. We Dont Care What You Think says:

PLP get rid of your dead beat racial rhetoric MPs and lets get a young and better older team in place
