Caron Bermuda To Honour Graham Pewter
Caron Bermuda will host a dinner honouring Graham Pewter, President and CEO of Catlin Bermuda, for the contributions he has made to Caron Bermuda.
Caron Bermuda board member, Mr. Rees Fletcher said, “I am pleased to announce that on May 30, 2013, Caron Bermuda will host a dinner to honor the on-going philanthropic work of Mr. Graham Pewter in Bermuda and to Caron Bermuda, specifically.”
Mr. Fletcher added, “Additionally, the Premier of Bermuda, The Hon. Mr. Craig Cannonier, JP, MP, has agreed to be the distinguished patron for this year’s dinner. The international guest speaker is Ms. Laurie Dhue, former news anchor for CNN, MSNBC and Fox News who will talk about her journey to sobriety in the public eye.”
“The money raised during the dinner will provide opportunities for scholarships. These scholarships are given to people in Bermuda, who otherwise could not afford to participate in the Caron recovery and treatment programs.
“To date, Caron Bermuda has facilitated 72 people to receive overseas treatment at our Caron US treatment centers and provided $429,368 in scholarships to 31 Bermudians for residential primary addiction treatment.”
Mr. Fletcher concluded, “In collaboration with the Bermuda Youth Counseling Services, we provide Adolescent and Family programming with continual demand to deliver hope and healing in our community.
“The proceeds from the dinner will contribute to the further development of Adolescent and Family programming and the Caron Bermuda Scholarship Fund, providing much needed financial aid to families who reach out to us to assist them with the cost of treatment for their loved ones. We invite companies and individuals to buy tables for the dinner as we pay tribute to the on-going work of Mr. Graham Pewter.”
Caron Bermuda Regional Vice President, Mrs. Gita Blakeney Saltus added, “Caron Bermuda is pleased to recognize the compassionate and continuous support given by Mr. Graham Pewter via Catlin Insurance over the years and his exceptional contribution to the mission and objectives of the work undertaken by Caron Bermuda.
“Graham and Catlin Insurance played a pivotal and leadership role with Caron Bermuda through the provision of Student Assistance Training for Pride Bermuda, and the subsequent implementation of SAP services in several schools on island. We salute Graham’s hard work and continued focus to ensure that recovery is available for those in need.”
