Deloitte Sponsors Student For U.S. Conference

Deloitte Bermuda will be sponsoring Berkeley Institute S3 student Staesha Pitcher to attend the Global Young Leader Conference in Washington D.C./New York this summer.

The conference will take place July 8-18, 2013 and teaches talented teens about diplomatic, social and economic history, allows them to explore and debate present policies, and prepares them for national and global leadership in the future.

Rachelle Frisby, Deloitte, and Staesha Pitcher, Global Scholar

Staesha, 17, was nominated as a global scholar by a teacher, and has a series of accomplishments under her belt, which include the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, several appearances on the Honour Roll, and involvement in youth programs including the Centre for Talented Youth and Bermuda Glee. Staesha works as a Junior Staff Member at the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo, where she started as a volunteer before being offered a staff member position.

Staesha will be one of the top students from over 100 countries to attend. Describing her expectations of the conference, Staesha said, “It will expand my cultural awareness and cultivate my leadership skills. I will form new ideas and perspectives by taking part in simulations that will challenge me to look at ongoing world issues from various points of view.”

Rachelle Frisby, Director in Deloitte Bermuda’s Financial Advisory Services practice and a member of the Philanthropic Committee, commented:“Deloitte remains committed to the development of outstanding talent in young Bermudians. We are delighted to support Staesha in this endeavor, which could be a formative moment in her personal development and career.”
