International Jazz Day Jam Session At Shine’s

April 9, 2013

Bermuda will mark International Jazz Day on April 30 with a formal proclamation on the steps of City Hall — and a four-hour jam session at Shine’s House Of Music in Hamilton.

The proclamation ceremony will take place at City Hall between noon and 1 p.m. while local jazzman Wendell [Shine] Hayward’s celebratory jam session featuring an array of Bermuda musicians will start at 5p.m. and will end at 9 p.m.

International Jazz Day — which will be observed in Bermuda schools — is an annual event event organised by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation [UNESCO] to celebrate “the virtues of jazz as an educational tool, and a force for peace, unity, dialogue, and for enhanced cooperation between peoples.”
