jesse madelyn swimmers[Updated] This evening [Apr 2] Bermuda’s Madelyn Moore claimed her fourth Carifta medal and her second gold medal, while Jesse Washington scooped up his third medal of the Games.

Swimming in Jamaica, Madelyn powered her way to a first place finish in 11/12 50m freestyle, with her time of 28.18 setting a new Bermuda age group record.

This takes the 12-year-old’s personal medal tally to four, having already claimed a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle, a silver in the 100m backstroke and a gold medal in the 50m backstroke.

Jesse Washington, 13, also earned another podium finish marking his third medal win of the Games. The reigning Junior Athlete of the Year finished the 50m free in a time of 25.29, which was a three-way tie for 2nd place, therefore earning him a silver medal. This medal win follows after his gold medal win in the 100 freestyle, and his bronze medal in the 100m butterfly.

Bermuda has now claimed seven swimming medals, and twelve medals overall in the 2013 Carifta Games. You can view all our coverage of the Carifta Games here.
