Man’s Body Found In Sandys, No Foul Play
[Updated: The police confirmed the death of 83-year-old Anson Simmons. Foul play has been ruled out]
A man’s body was found in the Railway Trail area off Sound View Road in Sandys this morning [Apr 12]. Police Media Manager Dwayne Caines confirmed the body was found, and said further details will be provided in due course. We will update as able.
Update 10.15am: Mr Caines said the man was a 90-year-old Sandys resident, and also said that foul play has been ruled out. The video of Mr Caines statement is below.
Update 12.03pm: The police have amended the man’s age to 83, and named him as Anson Simmons.
A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 83 year old Anson Simmons of Sandys parish. Mr. Simmons was found around 8:15am Friday, April 12th in an unresponsive state along the Railway Trail in Sandys parish after apparently going for his usual morning walk.
“EMTs provided CPR at the scene; however Mr. Simmons was subsequently pronounced dead. There does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. The Bermuda Police Service extends condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Simmons on his passing.”
